Well, I found that there is a rather peculiar way in which this site functions. For example, I am a doctor and usually accept interests from doctors(no it's not a rule but is just that it happens so very often) But, If I hit accept to someone who's an engineer by profession ,I will get more and more interests from the people of same profession i.e. engineers. It's like somebody's keeping a watch on you. That's creepy.

Also,there are a lot of guys on the site who look much much older than the age mentioned it their profile. I try to go by the picture, they say a picture is worth a thousand words and of course the gut feeling. The only slightly bad experience I had was that I met this amazing looking surgeon there and we fixed up a date in D.C. We clicked right away and chatted on the phone for hours but to my surprise I found out that this person is rather promiscuous and has slept with almost half of the hospital in St. Louis. And the funny thing is that he was the one who used to point out how some pple were fooling around on this site. I assume he's still there, looking for... well, may be not a potential life partner but a saturday night fun. I am still a member but I have given up all hopes from this site.

Tips for the hopeful one's

1) Body language says a lot

2) Investigate about the person

3) No question is too personal. Ask anything that you want to know. You are looking for someone you're gonna spend your life with.

4) Meet in person and Talk on the phone as much as you can, the idea is that if the other person is a poser then he/she will make a mistake sometime for you to read the "tell tale" signs.

I agree that a lot of people on shaadi.com are looking for a hook-up. It's sad how some Indian parents pressure their kids to join this site thinking that "Everyone is serious about marriage." There are going to be predators on this site, like anywhere else.

After a member started to make serious sexual threats/verbal abusive remarks to me for rejecting his interest, I quit that site.
