Great Experience

I have been a free member on that site for years. I actually forgot I had a profile on there. Recently I received a wink. The question I have is that they advertise that you can reply free to any request. But everytime I do, the "Pay for gold level" application pops up. So I winked back and now he sent me an e-mail, but I still cannot reply.
How is it that you are on there free and have been able to contact men? It appears to me that the only way to connect is to pay. Please explain how this works!! I want to respond without having to pay a month fee for $40.00. Not even sure if I want to be on there, but I would like to talk to this one!
