Lack of customer service

I knew going into this that I was taking a risk in signing up for IJL. I also knew there would be no guarantees that I would meet someone I would really connect with. But I signed up and went into this with an open mind. What I did not expect is a complete lack of customer service. I live in LA and in this area IJL sets you up on a date first and after that date is when you get to actually have an in-person interview with the staff. I thought it was a little strange but Lisa Whittaker who does the selling of the memberships helped me to get comfortable with the idea so I signed up. Once I gave my credit card, Lisa said her matchmaking team would call the next day because they already had someone they wanted me to meet. It took about a week for them to actually call which was ok but.... The first call I got was from Claudia. I was in a meeting and so I let the call go to voice mail. I called her back within an hour and left her a message. She called me back 30 minutes later and hadn't yet heard my message and then scolded me for being so unavailable for her calls. Isn't IJL for the busy professional and since when is returning a call within an hour so unacceptable. Anyway I really wanted to try this out so I ignored her rude demeanor and asked about my date. When it became time to figure out a location it became clear she wasn't familiar with LA. How could she be since she was calling me from Florida. Anyway I was driving so I asked her to email me the details of the date. She agreed but I never heard back from her. A day or two later I got a call from Ashley wanting to set up my first date. She left me a message and I called her back within 30 minutes and left her a message. The next contact I had with them was in the form of an email saying they were putting my membership on hold because of my failure to return their calls. So I emailed her back and pointed out I had called and invited her to call me back then. When she did, she apologized. I will say Ashley seems very nice. I just think their business model is so screwed up. Anyway Ashley set me up on my first date. Told me how important the feedback I give them after the date is and made me promise to call. I went on the date with a nice guy. I wasn't necessarily interested in anything more with him but he was a nice, quality person. I emailed and called Ashley after the date to see about setting up my next in-person meeting with them to give them feedback. I never recieved a response. I waited a couple weeks and emailed Lisa Whittaker who always responded to me when she was trying to sell me this membership. Nothing. Finally about a month and a half after my first date I got a call from Ashley. She wanted to set up my in person meeting so that they could get my feedback. I told her that the date was so long ago it would be hard to give specifics. She said yes but we forgot to do this. I told Ashley that I wasn't interested in continuing their service because of the lack of follow up on their part. She said there wasn't anything that could be done to refund my money even on a pro-rated basis. I asked to speak with her supervisor and guess what I still haven't received a call back.

I joined IJL because I wanted someone to do some of the work for me. This ended up being more work than doing it yourself through things like match or eharmony. When I had my one date through IJL, my date told me his experience was the same and when he finally had his in-person meeting with IJL the person he met with spent more time asking him to hire her at his company than getting his feedback.

If you are looking to receive good customer service and return phone calls, keep looking IJL won't meet your expectations.

This is amazing. I am dealing with the same exact people right now. I have not yet been informed that there were even matches for a first date. I signed up only a week ago and people already have not called or returned any of my emails so I made the decision to immediately sever the reltionship before things got worse or didn't improve. They are claiming that they 'have matches' for me and therefore a refund is not possible. Even if I was not informed that there were matches. they have them, no refund. Same Girls involved here, Ashley and Claudia. The girl in Florida that called to sell me on the program has never yet returned emails or phone calls. This program almost seems set up to be sure and snag you whether or not you like it. I am now TERRIFIED to go any of the dates they might set up for me considering what I have read here...You would think a truly professional business would return calls and not want a seriously angry person to go out on a date. I told the territory manager Ashley I would never tolerate this from an accountant, attorney or contractor in my professional life and I won't tolerate it from her. She basically said, sue us..the attorney will have no grounds to stand on o.O

Same People different names for me. I am in Tucson, and I had my first date with a really nice man, but during the dinner he informed me he was just starting to see someone. (not from IJL) but on his own from the gym. He wanted to get my number (Just in case) but I didnt give it to him. Pat from IJL told me maybe that was his way of saying he wasnt interested. You have got to be kidding me~ The 2nd date took over a month, and was set up for a month and the guy was waiting for me, when I showed up he told the hostess at the resteraunt to tell me I had the wrong place. Well I saw him and he wasnt my type too look at but I would have suffered through a half hour of small chat then left politely. I know I am not unattractive and have a nice shape and was dressed very nice, so he did judge me from a distance lol. I think that was rude on his part, (nothing to do with IJL) but I dont think they screen well enough. And I did have a rough time at first. Got calls all the time from Shana before I signed up then after I signed up WHAM, nothing for over a week, finally a call from a different girl (name forgotten) then Pat after another week past. Pat said she was sick and thats why it took so long. Well I am in Customer Service and I know my boss would not tollerate that type of service for 1 min. So 2 months 2 dates and still no communication. This service is for perfessionals who work, yet they are only available during the times I am working as well. Thats crazy!!

This is an incredibly bad service. I can't say enough bad about them. I called out of frustration that their level of communication and customer service was bad. I was lectured about my attitude, I have been in business for 25 years, if I treated customers like they do I would have been out of business 24 years ago. If you read this and still sign up with them you are a fool. This is a scam, beyond belief. I could have done a lot better using Match.com.
