So many FAKE Profiles!

After joining and browsing POF for several years, its produced only three meetings, one proved to be a total nut job who flipped out when I wouldn't drive her 100 miles to some club in NYC. Another turned out to be 50 lbs heavier and 15 years older than her profile, and one that turned out to be barely legal in search of a rich old man.
Worse yet, one profile I spotted turned out to be a neighbor's 15 year old daughter posing as a 29 year old woman who lost her husband and kid in a disaster. The pic was real, the story was total BS. The 15 year old was a fat screwed up anti-social home schooled kid. 7 years later that screwed up kid married a guy 40 years her senior and accused him of abuse and had him arrested while she still lives in his house, drives his cars and trucks.

The profiles that I really don't get are the 55 year old woman who looks 65, with 6 kids who 'Will only date guys under 30" or similar.
POF constantly is showing me woman 20 years my senior. I generally look for someone my age or no more than a five or so years younger. What I find are woman who look to be 20 years older and severely overweight.

I spotted one profile a few months ago of a woman who I know from work. In real life shes a quiet, shy woman who socializes with no one at work. At work, I don't think she's ever spoken to anyone. She's in her very late 50's or early 60's in good shape for age but not very attractive overall.
On her profile she lists that she's a retired doctor in search of an 'equal' She posts pics of her in various bikinis, and underwear, all obviously photo shopped to not show her bad teeth or lack of a figure. Her profile clearly states that she will not respond to anyone over 30 years old, she lists her age as 35. Every few years she redoes her profile with a similar name to back peddle her age down to 35 again. This has been going on for 10 years or more.

I spotted one profile of a woman who I used to work with. She was roughly my age or a bit older but she listed her age as 35 despite being closer to 60. She posted various pics that were obviously photo shopped of her face on some model's body. Her profile says that those older than 30 need not apply. She claims to be a semi retired doctor in search of an equal to marry.
Anyone that falls for her profile scam will be sorely disappointed.

I get random emails from woman all over the country saying they're looking to relocate if they met the right man. Most are downright scary looking with psychotic sounding profiles. No one in their right mind would take them seriously.

Fake profile are easy to spot, which lately seem to be about 3/4 of them. The titles make no sense, the pics don't match the description or age with wrong hair color, bad English, and nonsense text. Another tell tale is all the pics being the same or only one pic with some exotic background.

These days POF is just there for entertainment, I see zero chance of meeting anyone real there. I would NEVER pay a dime for that site.

PoF is a hotbed for Fake and Dead profiles. Match.com runs it and they use many unscrupulous methods to boost their numbers to lure unsuspecting people towards their sites. First, they aggregate and share profiles across their sites to boost their numbers. Second, they dont actively pursue known fraudulent schemes, and third they do not purge their files of inactive or dead profiles. This is to boost their numbers in order to tell the naive user that there are millions of users, when in actuality there are probably only hundreds of thousands of "Active or Credible" users. Next, the rules that apply to women dont apply to men. This is because they know men are more likely to spend money and if scammed will say nothing out of shame. Bottom line is that dating sites are like most on line job sites....the bottom feeders or desperate. Sorry to say this but the ratio is something like 17 to 1 on dating sites (men to women).
