Summary of the 2023 Dating Sites Reviews Choice Awards

This is a summary of the awards and their recipients for the 16th annual Dating Sites Reviews Choice Awards. These awards honor the best dating apps and sites of 2023 in 11 different categories and were handed out starting this new year in January and continued through to February 14th (Valentines Day). The dating services listed below are the ones worth checking out in 2023 for those interesting in participating in online dating to find a partner.
Our top award is the Single's Choice Award which is decided by our readers. To participate all you had to do was cast a vote in our poll which ran from October 1st 2022 until December 31st 2022. The poll asks you to recommend your choice for the top dating service (app and/or site) from a selection of the ten leading dating services on the internet which we have an editorial review for. The top three dating services who receives the most votes will be the recipient of a Gold, Silver, and Bronze award. This year the poll saw 280 votes cast and with all dating services except 1, receive between 20 (7%) and 39 (14%) votes making it a really race when compared to previous years.

The Gold Single's Choice Award recipient for 2023 is Plenty of Fish. With almost 14 percent of the vote, POF still remains at the top of peoples minds for dating, especially those 35 years and older. With unique marketing campaigns and a brand refresh along with a website and app redesign this past year, keeps the dating service relevant and current among its users. This year, POF also picked up the Top Pick Overall and Top Pick Paid Awards.
Recipient Tinder
The recipient of the 2023 Silver Single's Choice Award is Tinder. With just under 13% of the vote, Tinder moves to second place when compared to last year. This app is most popular with young adults and still remains current due to the constant updates to features it receives. With the strong showing during the pandemic, Tinder has experienced flat market growth this year due to dating app fatigue which has been reported in studies of their primary target audience.
Recipient Bumble
The recipient of the 2023 Bronze Single's Choice Award is Bumble. With 12 percent of the vote, Bumble only received 3 less votes than the Silver Award making it a very close race. This 2023 Top Pick Innovative Award winner continued to push for woman's rights on many topics and continues to give them control over dating and communication which continues to strike a chord with it users. Bumble now has over 40 million active monthly users.

After reviewing each dating category and with careful consideration the recipients are selected. The Editor's Top Pick - Over All award for 2023 goes to Plenty of Fish. This is the third time in a row that POF has won which says a lot as they must beat out every other dating service we have reviewed (which is over 75 by our last count). It's hard to go wrong with this dating site since it has such a large membership base and many free features that makes it possible not to spend a dime and still meet interesting and fun people.

The Editor's Top Pick - Paid award for 2023 goes to Zoosk. This is familiar territory for Zoosk and a hard award to win. Communication is key with dating apps considered for this category. With Zoosk, free members can reply to paid members messages therefore reducing the barrier for entry while still making sure a lot of members are serious about dating and finding a relationship (since they have paid money and have "skin in the game"). This is why some people prefer paying since free dating apps get a lot of people who are just looking which fills your search results with profiles of people not really looking to date someone new.

The Editor's Top Pick - Free award for 2023 goes to Plenty of Fish. All popular dating services have at least some paid perks. With POF we still found that it offers the most free features. Anyone can create a profile, search for other members, and send and receive messages all without upgrading to a subscription. It's crazy, but POF has won this award for the last 7 years giving it the longest winning streak of any our awards.

The Editor's Top Pick - Up & Coming award for 2023 goes to Hinge. Hinge has been around since 2012 so it has been almost a decade to get to this point. It's been a long road and they have almost won it several times in the past, but never quite reached the top of the list. This changed in 2022 as Hinge building on the momentum from the pandemic years became a lot more popular and one of Match Group's (the company which also owns Tinder) top dating services.

The Editor's Top Pick - Match System award for 2023 goes to eHarmony. No other dating service comes close to making matches that lead to more long-term relationships. The profile questionnaire may take a while to fill out when a member first signs up, but it is worth it. eHarmony compiles and uses the profile data and compares it with other members using years of research to determine matches that has a better chance of succeeding.

MillionaireMatch has been bringing people together for many years and now have over 5 million members with many of them certified as a millionaire (based on documents they need to send to the service). This dating service is the largest in its niche which results in members having over 2 million conversations a month.
