Online dating launched and you thought “This couldn't get any more convenient.”

Then mobile dating apps happened, and you thought “Nevermind, this is the pinnacle of dating convenience.”

Soon, if Zoosk has a say, even dating on your smartphone might seem passé. The dating service is rolling out a smartwatch app that integrates with Android Wear technology to take convenience to the next level.

The app, available for download on the Google Play store[*1] , brings Zoosk’s Behavioral Matchmaking™ algorithm to the sleek smartwatch interface, offering wearers on-the-go access to potential matches throughout the day. For now the app is free to use for browsing potential matches, but a subscription fee is charged for access to premium features like messaging.

“Zoosk’s Android Wear app is a natural, consumer-driven evolution of our technology,” said CEO Kelly Steckelberg in an article on Yahoo Finance. “By closely observing how today’s consumers choose to stay connected, we identified an opportunity to enhance the dating experience with the rising adoption of wearable devices.”

The new app includes the following features:

  • Cutting-edge Personalized Technology: Members can access Zoosk's Carousel feature, which presents the age and photo of potential dates on the smartwatch interface. The personalization comes courtesy of Zoosk's Behavioral Matchmaking Technology, which constantly learns from your actions in order to provide better matches.
  • Interactive Experience: Users can seamlessly scroll through photos on the smartwatch and tap “yes” or “no” to potential matches, with no need for access to a smartphone.
  • Fully-integrated: The app leverages Bluetooth connectivity to alert members when there is a mutual match. Users are then directed to their smartphone app to view the match.

It's all about ease. “The Zoosk Android Wear app is designed to fit consumers’ everyday habits, empowering singles with even more choices for how they can discover love,” says Steckelberg. “Now, staying on top of matches and exploring connections is even more effortless and accessible for today’s always on-the-move singles.”

According to Juniper Research[*2] , revenue from smart wearable devices is expected to reach $53 billion by 2019, so it's no surprise Zoosk (and other sites like Match.com, who are already on the Android Wear platform) are looking to get in on the ground floor.

What's noticeably missing is mention of the highly hyped Apple Watch. Steckelberg says Zoosk is potentially interested in pursuing the platform, but wants to gauge the response on Android Wear first before proceeding.
