Tinder has launched a new game featuring AI bots that users can interact with to practice flirting, enact meet-cute scenarios, and get suggestions on how they can improve their skills.

According to Tech Crunch[*1] , “The Game Game” as Tinder calls it, is accessible over the app. When a user clicks on the Tinder logo in the top left corner, the game is activated and provides the user with a set of cards, each one featuring a different AI persona in a different scenario.

Users can respond by talking and flirting with the bot directly and seeing if they can score a “date.”

The bot gives the user a score with a fire emoji point system (three flames means the dater has flirting skills), and provides real-time responses for users so it feels like a spontaneous conversation. The user gets feedback if the conversation isn’t going anywhere or if they say something rude.

Users can engage with their chosen AI bot up to five times per day, and each session can last up to three minutes. If the chat bot agrees to a date, then the user can pick a scenario and explore it to check their skills.

"We built the time limit on purpose because this is just a warm-up," said Devyn Simone, Tinder's relationship expert in residence, at The Game Game’s launch event, according to RTT News[*2] . "This is just a game. It is not designed to replace human conversations. Instead, it's actually designed to encourage real conversations with real people in real life."

The Game Game is accessible for a limited time, according to RTT News, and for now, is only available to iOS users in the U.S.

Tinder has been leaning into AI features to draw more users to its app as it struggles to stay relevant among younger daters, who have been turning away from dating apps in general. The AI bot game is an interesting move, but so far reviews from journalists have been mixed about their experiences trying to flirt with the bots.

“This project gave us a chance to experiment with how AI can make dating a little more fun and a little less intimidating,” said Alex Osborne, Sr. Director of Product Innovation at Match Group in the company’s press release. “We worked with OpenAI to create something that’s lighthearted but rooted in real tech—blending personality, feedback, and just enough playfulness to keep people on their toes.”
