POF's biggest new feature this year is a live streaming feature called "Live!". This feature arrived just at the start of the pandemic which was perfect timing for a virtual dating tool. Live allows members to date from a distance by streaming video from their phone. 1 or more members can view the stream and chat back with the streamer. It is also possible to do 1 on 1 video calling through the app. Another interesting feature which is part of Live is called NextDate. This is a virtual video speed dating game where users have the opportunity to meet new people. At the start, the blind dates are blurred out so you can’t see who you’re chatting with. Each virtual date is timed, and as you chat longer, your date becomes less blurred. Once the time is up your blind date’s image is revealed.
In 2020 POF also had several other large updates to their website and apps. Both were streamlined and now contain the same features. The user experience was tweaked by adding Likes and removing old standard dating tools like Favorites. Automated matching was simplified as well. Gone are the complex matching tests that could take a long time to fill out. Instead POF now has an automated matching system that uses AI to generate matches for its members found under Meet Me and My Matches.
