On the hit show True Blood, Deborah Ann Woll has sexy vampire mind-control powers to seduce men. In real life, her love story is a little more tame.

Ok, a lot more tame.

In 2007, Woll joined Match.com. Then 23 and fresh out of the University of Southern California's theater school, she wanted to meet someone genuine and grounded that she could build a life with.

"I'm shy, and I'd always had a hard time meeting boys," she told Glamour. "I had a serious boyfriend in high school, but Hollywood, where it's all about being 'cool,' terrifies me! When I opened my Match account, I'd done a few guest spots but wasn't on True Blood yet, and I wanted to find someone grounded."

She found that someone in the form of 32-year-old comic E.J. Scott. Part of what drew her to Scott was the honesty in his Match profile: he mentioned that he had been diagnosed with choroideremia, a rare disease that causes progressive loss of vision and aversion to bright lights.

Scott says he was attracted to her right away. "I kept clicking through her photos, and there was one that had this great big smile," he said to Glamour. "I'm a big smile guy. Her profile said she liked Mystery Science Theater 3000. She was so pretty yet so nerdy! I just had a feeling about her."

Woll says she connected with Scott right away because she felt like she could be herself with him, and he too was taken with her from day one. Now the couple is living proof that relationships that begin on Match.com, or any other dating site, can go the distance. Woll and Scott have stayed strong through a break-up, several years of a long-distance relationship, and the daily challenge of his declining vision.

Now the True Blood star is eager to start a family with her long-term boyfriend. "I didn't grow up imagining my wedding day," Woll says, "so we may not get married, but we're committed for life, and we want kids. I could wait, but his biological clock is ticking!" They estimate that Scott has 10 years left before he loses his vision completely, and they would like to have kids before he is more seriously impaired so he can see them grow up.

Despite the unusual obstacles they've faced, Woll and Scott have been together for six years and they're stronger than ever.

Best of luck to them both!

What Martha Stewart Means For Online Dating

The world changed forever on the day Martha Stewart came out in favor of online dating.

I know, I know...it sounds like I'm exaggerating, but I'm really not. Just think about it: what did Martha Stewart stand for before she stood for online dating? Healthy recipes. DIY. Ideas for entertaining. Crafts. Gardening. Kmart. Home décor. Doilies. Assorted other 'good things.'

In other words, Stewart built a multi-million dollar empire on being the most boring, average woman on the planet (other than the insider trading thing, but let's not go there). When a woman like that says online dating is the way to go, no one is ever going to look at online dating the same way again.

It all started with an interview with Matt Lauer. Stewart told the "Today" host that she loves dating, but hasn't yet found "Mr. Right." Her first attempt to take her search online didn't end as planned - she made it halfway through setting up a Match.com profile before abandoning the pursuit in a fit of laughter.

Fortunately, Match.com came to the rescue and posted a profile for Stewart. She's looking for someone "active and fit and healthy and good looking," who doesn't hate children or animals, smoke, or drink to excess. She's also on the lookout for "a nice smile, a nice appetite for good things... a nice person who's also funny and witty and smart and hopefully rich enough."

It might sound like a long list of requirements, but the 20,000 pageviews the profile received in the first few days prove that quite a few men are willing to take on the challenge of dating Martha Stewart. She narrowed a pool of 1,000 suitors down to two men who joined her on "Today" for an interview (and you think your first dates are awkward!).

When Martha Stewart is happy to discuss her online dating exploits with the nation, it's clear that the stigma surrounding it is finally gone. Online dating is so much more than socially awkward loners in their parents' basements...it's an opportunity for everyone, regardless of age, to expand their horizons and open their love lives to partners they may never have met otherwise.

If Martha's into it, it must officially be normal, cool, and mainstream (except the doilies...that will never be cool).

In other words, stereotypes are out. Online dating is in. And now everyone knows it.

What do you think...is Martha Stewart's Match.com profile 'a good thing' for online dating?

SeekingArrangement.com on Dr. Phil

This Friday, on his popular CBS show Dr. Phil, Dr. Phil McGraw will take on the hot topic of "Sugar Baby Students."

"College girls and recent graduates who are struggling with mounting debt and a weak job market are turning to websites, such as SeekingArrangement.com, that introduce them to wealthy men who, in exchange for companionship -- and maybe sex -- help them pay their bills," says the episode description on DrPhil.com. "Is this the Internet version of the world's oldest occupation, or just a niche dating site?" The episode will feature thoughts from 4 sugar babies, a former prosecutor and CNN analyst, and Brandon Wade, the founder of Seeking Arrangement.com - and sparks are guaranteed to fly.

"While I am honored that Dr. Phil chose to work with SeekingArrangement.com rather than other sugar daddy dating websites to create a segment to educate the world on the sugar lifestyle," Brandon Wade wrote on the dating site's blog, "I was not too happy with the approach taken by the show's producers." Though he initially thought that appearing on the show would facilitate "an intelligent discussion into the sugar lifestyle" and be "an opportunity for me to showcase that sugar babies were intelligent and goal-oriented ladies, while sugar daddies are respectful gentlemen," Wade feels that the experience turned into something completely different once the cameras were rolling, all in the name of creating controversy.

Wade is now fighting back, defending what he believes to be a legitimate and legal arrangement between consenting adults: "While I am open to debating issues (such as the merits of sugar dating) with logic and reason, I am honestly appalled when educated and intelligent people resort to name calling in an effort to create TV buzz." He notes that SeekingArrangement.com, like all dating sites, is sometimes the victim of users who misuse the service and break the rules, though he promises members that they take these transgressions seriously and do their best to prevent them from happening.

As a result of this recent negative coverage, Wade says that he believes it is "time to take the focus away from the question of whether 'sex' and 'money' is involved in a sugar relationship," because "'sex' is always involved in any romantic relationship and because 'money', too, is always exchanged in any relationship." In an effort to propagate positive views of the sugar lifestyle, Wade says that big changes will be coming to SeekingArrangement.com.

"Over the next few days you will see some big changes coming to the SeekingArrangement.com homepage, as we start to focus our messaging on the positive qualities of being sugar daddies and sugar babies," Wade writes on the blog. "Sugar relationships are in their ideal form relationships that empower individuals. They are win-win relationships formed as a result of two people (a modern sugar daddy and a goal seeking sugar baby) who were brutally honest with each other up front."

See what Dr. Phil has to say about sugar daddy arrangements on Dr. Phil this Friday, September 16, on CBS, and let us know what you think!
