According to the site's publishers, Facemeet.com is more of a friendship site than a dating site. It looks cool ... has anyone here tried it out? Also worth mentioning: it is based in the United Kingdom (UK).

Yeah, I checked it out recently - seems its every country, not just UK - check out the dropdown searches on the main site.

horrible site. makes you pay to do a search in your area when other sites let you do that for free. and what's the purpose of the site? is it for dating? for online penpals? for blogging? they can't even get their mission straight. horrid UI. disorganized and pretty much useless.

Talk about a cool site which doesn't charge you a peeny for any searches or any messaging, or anything actually; here's one :
