All I can say is WOW. For the last month I have been trying out online dating on both Ok Cupid and Plenty of Fish. In 3 weeks I have emailed over 100 girls and had exactly 13 responses. With those responses most felt like small talk and had little meaning. I found that the girls for the most part stopped replying after 2 or 3 emails.

I did try to engage them in conversation and from the few I did talk more with I found it hard to gauge attraction and any real feelings in the messages. I have gotten 2 numbers from my online conversations and with those girls I have texted a few times with. The one girl I texted I asked her out on a date and she said she couldn’t because of her schedule and Thanksgiving this week. I offered to take her out next week on what every day she wanted and I got a maybe out of her. I am not stupid I know what that means, a big fat no.

I guess I am just frustrated with online dating and needed a place to vent.

I have to say my experience like yours of free dating sites has not been good. My theory is that many of the people who join free dating sites are not really that committed to finding that special someone or even to dating in general but see it as a way to increase their own self esteem based on the number of responses they get! I think the best site if you're looking for a serious relationship is one that is free to join, add your own profile and look at other members' profiles until you've seen a few members that you'd like to contact then you take out a subscription in order to make contact.
