I am going out with this girl now for about a month. We are not exclusive yet but I have a feeling she wants to be. I really like her and she is lots of fun but she has a few bad habits that I can't seem to get over. She goes out drinking with her girlfriends at least 2 or 3 times a week and many times she comes home drunk. We are in college so we all drink but she takes it to the extreme.

She also smokes a lot which bothers me. I never have liked kissing a smoker!

I try to tell myself not to stay interested in her. At the end of last week I went over to her place with the idea of breaking up but it just didn't happened and we ended up making out.

I have talked to her about her habits and she doesn't see them as a problem. Is there any way to get her to change?

You know the saying, old habits die hard? I think you should talk to your girlfriend about her bad habits instead of dropping it, but know this, when it comes to drinking and smoking, its up to the person who DOES THEM to want to change. You can talk to her and bring it up and ask her to change to help her health and so on, but I think it will be hard unless you can emotionally help her to quit, she needs to feel ready to quit, she needs to know that it will do some good for her and you, especially for the relationship you share together. She needs to set her mind on it herself, so be firm with her and talk about it and how it worries/annoys you, you need to be cruel to be kind.

According to my experience with women, you should not try to change her bad habits, accept her as she is or stay away, forced changing will not bring anything good.

I agree with dr.J. Absolutely nothing good comes out, forcing somebody to change just for your sake. If they don't want to, and you force them, it might end bad for both of you not just one of you. So, long story short, if you can deal with her "as she is", cool. If not, try finding yourself another. You don't need to bother one another anymore.

I agree you cannot forcefully change anybody, the best that you could do is to talk to her and then she will figure out for her self.

I think you can chance her habits. 1st you can present her bad habits.But remember don't get very first.Do it slowly.Then you can show your love for her.Now i think you can told her that was your bad habits.Now girls in the world does't SAW there foul.That's true.But don't get angry man.Try to remove her bad habits by showing your love.

I think you need to break up with her and tell her if she wants you back she needs to quit drinking.
If she really loves you she will quit drinking and smoking. I think it is the best way to change her.
