I met my last boyfriend about 5 months ago. We fell for each other hard and fast.

We had so much in common and we always had a blast when we went out. We were planning trips together and we had met each others family. We were in love (which we had both told each other).

We basically went out on weekends but kept in touch by phone and texting during the week.

Last weekend he dropped a bombshell on me. He told me he was breaking up with me and that he doesn't want to be held accountable to me.

I am pretty confused. I had many signals from him that I was important in his life. We both had said "I love you" many times. Now he will not even return my calls.

I would like to get back together with him, should I keep trying to reach him?

Sad to hear about your stories but be strong. Did he tell you the reasons why he want to break up with you? He is responsible to tell you the truth for you to understand why you need to accept it. At this time it would be better give him time to think what he wants, because if he really loves you he will come back and reach you. As long as you did your best and you know you didn't do something to ruin the relationship then you dont to worry about it. If he will come he's yours but if not I think it's better to move on.

I think you should go no contact with him. The more you pursue him the more it will push him away.

You can't know what his reasons are so try not to make yourself crazy thinking it over. (I know easier said than done). It could be that he found a new girl, maybe he thinks he is doing you a favor, because he just discovered and STD.. etc etc.. who knows??

The main thing here is that when someone wants to break up you can't be afraid to walk away. Respect yourself and honestly just move on. If he knows he lost a good thing, he will find you. Otherwise, never look back.

Edit: I just realized I replied to a post from 2011. I am sorry to admins and others. Hopefully my advice will help someone in a similar situation though.
