I think currently and for the last several years (since maybe the mid 1990's), personal ads do not seem to bring the quality or qantity of replies as it did when I was using them from about 1983 to the present!

I have been using them that long and I am probably one of the the longest users of personal ads be it in my town's alternative weekly where you sent replies via mail (this was the best) to using match.com and other internet sites as the alternative paper quit using the personals in the mid 1990's.

I notice in forums in plentyoffish.com, ihatemen.com, I hate women.com and Lord only knows the other forums where each sex blasts the other when I think in reality both men and women are desperate to find a way to connect and vent their frustrations to the true trouble makes (particularly plenty of fish.)

Are the personals on the internet doomed?

Possibly.

Up until recently, I did not see such anger directed at the opposite sex.

We are all guilty of hurtying one another.

But what I see NOW seems true hate and perhaps I am wrong when I previously said both sides are just venting because they are frustrated that they can't meet people.

I think that sionce 9-11, people have changed and not for the better. People are just plain meaner these days and they want to make sure that they get theirs be it a SUZ, nice house or whatever and they have the attitude 'the H-- with everyone else.

So until this attitude changes back to a kinder time, I think that people will continue not to get much response (and that goes for the women who I always quiiz if they get much response and they seem to get what the gusy get so they seem to be in the same boat).

Enough of my rambling on Christmas Day and forgive the typos.

Not at all. They have worked in the past but now that I have relocated to a smaller town they aren't working. In fact 1/2 the e-mails I sent out over the past few months (that amounts to four as there aren't too many to send to) don't even get read. The two that did get read got no resply.
