I have spent the major holidays alone since 1999. I never thought it would last this long a dry spell.

And in the past, I might go a few months before I connected with someone.

But since this brave new world of George Bush and fear your neighbor and don't talk to strangers, the world is getting increasing colder and more isolated (source Newsweek several months ago it was their cover story that week).

Also, there have been recent articles on the internet about people running into their homes as fast as possible to avoid neighbors and not to ge to know anyone.

I agree! There are NO girls out there that will even talk to me. Even if I just say "Hi" it's as if I've frightened them or annoyed them in some way. What a sad world we now live in where no one seems interested in anyone or trusts anyone anymore.
