When POF sends a verification code to someones phone what’s that for? And why should you not share that code?

I’m only asking as someone I chatted with from POF site over a phone call I guess used my number for me to get the verification code so I can send it to him. I haven’t yet and I’m looking for answer as to why I need to send this code to him and what would happen.

Please can someone answer this right away!

its to keep the scammers from nigeria and russia out of POF as the code prooves where they are .. i have had scammers from russia and nigeria on pOF trying to turn me over and they go to great lenghts to doctor photos using goodle street viiew to con people to make them believe theyre not somewhere else where scammers live

That code is for you only for logging in.

He (if it is even a he) is trying to get into your account and take it over.

DO NOT SEND HIM THE CODE.

I also would not contact him again and report his profile to POF and include the request where he asked for the code. They will probably block him right away.
