a review i found ....concerning baltic ladies
I hope to get some basic information from others. Here is my first post. I am attempting to get myself a lady friend in her 40s and 50s. Tried the local (UK) dating services, and also the few "natural" ways of meeting women locally, but all these efforts failed (online dating was completely useless!). So keeping on flogging a dead horse trying to get fixed up locally seems a waste of time.
Which brings me to overseas marriage sites as an alternative. I am not naive and I know all about the Russian brides scammers. The golden rule is never to pay upfront, but even then you might end up with a gold digger who only shows her hand once married (for example they might only want a UK passport, which requires the marriage). So you have to enter this field level headed and realise that you need to know the woman in question sufficiently well, otherwise any "marriage" will be a disaster. And you need to think of it as something of a gamble.
As I'm sure many other guys know, the Ukrainian women are physically attractive and come across as keen to get married on their profiles. I've not joined any yet, but you are allowed to browse free.
However, Baltic Ladies tells me that their women would not normally expect to work after the age of 50. Indeed, they also tell me that the Ukrainians displayed that are in their 40s are not keen either on the idea of working in they marry a man from the UK if they have to come to the UK after marriage.
Surely, this means that these women are simply gold-diggers? I was surprised that the dating service on Baltic Ladies was so frank about the alleged fact that anyone on their books over about 40 would expect to be fully supported and not have to work, since this is surely no basis to a marriage. I can't believe that if this is really their attitude, they will get ANY men rushing to marry them, since it's clearly a scam and that love (or even liking) doesn't come into the equation. We do hear of success stories, but are these only limited to the Ukrainians in their 20s and 30s who are expected to work in the UK?
Sounds very cynical on the face of it.
The other point is that if the Ukrainians aged over 40, as they advise at Baltic ladies, are not keen on contributing financially at all to a marriage to a UK man, how many UK guys actually have the means to support both himself and his Ukrainian bride? Few indeed.
Baltic Ladies originally told me that their female clients wanted to marry abroad because they couldn't find a good man in their country. So the love element would come into that argument. But if what they later told me (above) is true, they are indeed gold-diggers and there's no attempt to disguise it. Or is this only part of the story?
The final point is that on Baltic Ladies, few if any of the women there can understand the English language. Even though they told me that English is taught in schools. So the situation is that these older women on their books expect to be fully supported by the UK guy if they got married and lived in the UK. And they cannot even speak the lingo! In other words, they don't need to put any effort into the relationship ...
I wonder if this is too bad to be true. And why, if this is really the dismal reality, anyone would even consider these Ukrainians as potential marriage material? Or am I missing out something positive about these Russian women, and that the reality of getting together with a Ukrainian woman to the UK isn't quite as full of problems and something to avoid at all costs, unless you happen to be loaded and stupid? (Even then, if you cease to be rich, expect her to be off.)
I can't believe that the Ukrainian women on these sites would, either, expect to find any male interest if they came out with this stuff about expecting to live off the guy if they ever lived together in the UK.
This information from Baltic Ladies isn't benefiting them if they want to leave Russia. If they displayed the attitude that they would not financially contribute to making a marriage work, they are doing themselves no favors either; unless they are dumb enough to believe the streets are paved with gold in the west and that westerners interested enough to contact them were blinded to what they were doing when it's so obvious. So I wonder if there is another, better, side, in which the Ukrainians are actually down to earth and realistic ... or is this all there is to them ...
