Quote by: AnonymousIf you really want to meet people 'in' the lifestyle, 'in' groups or attend events then Fetlife is probably your best bet. There are many venues and ways of finding like minded people and many groups there to help you discuss and/or find people in your area.
Probably just better to go to a place like Fetlife and look at local groups to you and start by attending munches and socializing with no agenda to hook up./p]
I dunno....I've joined FetLife twice and to me it's quite intimidating. It's not exactly a "folks who are totally new to the community scene and know absolutely no one" place. It' seemed that most everyone already knew everyone else, and almost all talked about their Masters or Mistresses, meaning everyone already seemed locked into their situations, and as a new person I didn't really feel like I fit in. I'm no stranger to the BDSM thing, but just never as part of community, and I was expecting a bunch of totally lost folks like me who knew no one, trying to meet and talk shop and learn together. Everyone seemed a bit clique-y and not really welcoming to new folks, at least in the areas I visited. And it's not exactly a "user friendly" place....it's actually rather confusing and convoluted and I just don't feel comfortable there, at least the times I've visited. And I have no interest in hooking up with anyone, just meeting other green folks who were as lost as I was.
As I said, I thought I was joining a "new people's meeting place where everyone was in the same boat", not a bunch of already-established, already connected folks who had their own little circles.
I guess I kinda wanted someone to "take my hand and show me around", but I was like 100% on my own and actually quite lost.
