honestly i just got tired of feeling like every online space was designed to make you scroll rather than actually talk to anyone. fanfills is different in a way thats hard to explain until youre in it. the conversations actually go somewhere. ive had exchanges on here that i thought about for days afterward. not what i expected when i signed up, not even close.

tbh the Fanfills website just works. found it randomly and didn't expect much from it, but suddenly I realized I keep coming back for three months already. and you know - as I work from home every day, I somehow feel that I have someone to talk to about my hobbies and meet interesting people online. like I met one cool Australian who I think is making my dream of becoming a surf instructor come true. less boredom in my day, so I like it

... how I got here. After my divorce I realized I had lost a lot of shared friends, the kind that come with a marriage rather than with you. I wasn't looking for anything in particular, just something to fill the silence a little. A friend mentioned the Fanfills platform and I signed up mostly out of curiosity. The first week I mostly just read what other people posted. Didn't feel pressured to jump in. When I finally started a conversation it was with someone going through a renovation and I have never in my life had such a detailed conversation about kitchen tiles... and it was wonderful. That is the thing about this place. You don't know what you are going to find but it ends up being exactly what you needed.

okay so the messaging on Fanfills is actually not overwhelming at all?? like nobody is blowing up your inbox or pressuring you into anything. you open a conversation when you feel like it and thats it. i was kind of surprised because usually these platforms feel like a lot. this one doesnt. started talking to this girl about books we both read and it just went from there. simple but it works
