We reported that as well see: Match.com Sued by Dissatisfied Member
You can also view other dating related articles in our General News section.
I did NOT know this section exisited.
However, I was a member of match.com two seperate times years apart. . The last time was about May 2005.
Unless match has changed, there NEVER has been a way to tell who is a member and who is not-but your news articles says there IS a way. Perhaps I misread this part.
Of course , all the paid sites let you become a member for free but to send e mails, you have to join. And now, you even have to join some sites just to see how many members are in your area thus inflating the number of members. Most people would just pass on that much hassle like i do since most sites have maybe 10 active women in all age ranges in a city the sizee of Dallas. Some areas DO use online dating more than others. Dallas, Texas seems NOT to like to use on line dating though it is NOT a hot bed of single meeting places like NYC..
It seems more popular in the Northeast and Canada but that is another post.
And of COURSE match has a NEW PREMUIM service that costs$$$$$ to allow people to do what is fair to begin with.
With companies like match, there are too many plans. there should be ONE god plan and at a low cost. In a few years-paid dating sites will die but the free ones depend on the paid ones for advertising like plenty of fish and date hookup.
It is a catch 22. So when the paid sites dies or change to free or close to free , then the real paid sites will dies.
But since they all stink, let them.
Darwins law. Survival of the fittest. Work or die. That sort of thing.
As for being able to asnwer a member's e mail while NOT being a member is fair.
That is the way the PRINT personal ads worked i initially. Then the advertiser got to place a free ad when 900 numbers were the rage and you got to place a free ad and a person interested had to pay a lot to call you and leave a voice message.
That is also another story on which was better.
But there is a HUGE need for people over 30 to find a reliable, safe and effective way of meeeting people near them. None of this out of state or scammer crap.
And be realistic. We are in a horrible recession.
It is about time internet dating started changing for the better and it will take lawsuits and boycotts of the sites to get it done.
Think these money hungry pikers are willing to just change?
Online dating is the LARGEST source of revenuce on the internet-ahead of porn!
And there is so much money to be paid. And while I have no problem with people , even Marcus Fink of plenty of fish, they MUST provide a real servie.
So again, unless match HAS changed and seems it has NOT or why is it being sued for the same problems that I and all the others that tried or use the site find-no way f telling who is a member thus you are wasting your time if that person can't respond and it is doubtful that they will join just to e mail you.
As I will say until I die-Kill off online dating. It worked around 1997 whne the print ads were going out of style. Then the print ads folded and online dating became the only game in town and no more REAL free trials . Now you have to give you credit card to get the free 3 day trial-if there IS a free trial.
And try to get off the system once you are on it.
Please, God, take me back to 1983 and I won't mess it up this time. I don't even ask to be young again. Just let me keep what i have learned at least in the area of dating and women.
To the administrator-how do you get those dots?????? One other thing. YOUR spam filter works erratic. I type in EACTLY what is in the little spam filter box and most of the time I have to re-type this several times. PLEASE make things simplier. And some LETTERS in the box are difficult to make out what IS the letter. Is it a letter or a number like H or is it II???????
