I thought it was just me, but I've spoken to two other local guys that had the same experience with Yahoo.

I was a member for 9 months. Not a single hit on my profile, not a single response to any ad I replied to. No evidence that any message I sent was ever delivered or read. Within 2 days of cancelling my subscription I got 3 "replies". All I had to do was renew my subscription to reply to them.

I'm not an offensive person, I'm fairly literate and not that ugly. I realized that my profile might not be that appealing, but since I had this experience I've talked to two guys who had the same experience. As soon as they cancelled the "replies" started showing up.

I've met someone in the real world now and am not subscribed to any dating service, but if I was it would certainly not be a scam site like Yahoo. No accountability, no way to tell if your messages are ever delivered, and a very strong suspicion that they aren't. After all, if you find someone on-line you'll quit looking and cancel your subscription. It's a lot more profitable for them to keep you hoping, and paying, for as long as possible before you give up.

I had the same experience with Date.com. I pisted a profile, but wasn't subscribed. I got a couple of hits. Being the person that responds to all, I subscribed to respond to these "potential" matches. Never got a reply from them, and never got a hit after I subscribed.

You are so right about the scam! every month I would cancel my subscription on Yahoo & American Singles due to lack of replies & the day after I'd end up with at least 10 replies, figure that out!

I don't know if this Yahoo scam might be new. I had a positive experience with Yahoo personals about a year ago. At that time I had corrresponded with several women who had either initiated contact with me or vice versa. When I cancelled (because I started dating one of the women) I never had the things that you suggest now. But you bring up a good point...these dating sites make money by not matching people up.

I agree with others about yahoo. but one good point is that if someone is really interested in you on yahoo, they will leave there contact info.. (if they are a paid member) and you never have to join... to get there messege.
I use Plentyoffish.. it's totally free... I acually own a different site, so I'm learning about all internet dating.

Matchcom does the same thing and I suspect most of the dating sites slaos perform this scam.

Months go by with no replies and then your membership runs out and suddenly you are getting responses.

Matchcom was taken to court in California because they supposedly had an employee date a man to keep him as a member. This seems unlikely but these dating sites are so ruthless, i owuld not put it past them to pimp out their employees.
