I'm curious to know what the gals experience is. I've had a profile on match.com for several months.
I'm a decent looking guy, reasonably successful, with good photos and what I think is a good profile.
I've written to perhaps 30 women. The vast majority don't reply. I'm not a great writer, but no moron either.
I spend a reasonable amount of time trying to compose am eye catcher.
The fact that I smoke, is a deal killer to many.
It's tough to attract attention.
I'm of the opinion that the women are innundated with mail.
Seems very competitive out there.

Smoking is a deal breaker for me and for a lot of my girlfriends. I am glad you don't hide the fact and you are up front about it. A few of the men I have dated have not told me they smoke, the problem is on the first date you can always tell and now this person has not only wasted his time but mine as well.
I'm sorry that not many woman have replied to your emails, I try to reply to all mine even if it is to say I am not interested..
From my experience, younger woman get a lot more mail, more attention and therefore more competition. Older woman do not.

Being an older man (50) and NOT seeking a 20 year old but someone in my age group, I find that the older women do not respond either.
PErhaps the older ones were never serious or too set in their routines and fear that having a man in their boring but ordered lives is not worth the down-side.
Dating is after all life alterering. But it should be for the better.
