Hey
Quick background info: When I first signed up at myspace I tried to customise my profile. First it was by using those generator websites, but after that it was by using my own html and css skills. I discovered that MySpace is actually somewhat of a mess under the hood and it frustrated me that it was so hard to skin your own profile really easily. So I came up with an idea (and just finished six months working on it) to make basically a free dating/social website where you could rearrange your entire profile by clicking and dragging stuff, and resize stuff and use colour pickers and stuff to customise. Not trying to compete with MySpace (who would do that?), so don't worry about that, and heck, I only have five people on there, but aaaaanyway what I wanted to get from you guys was:
What do you think about this as a concept for a dating website? What suggestions can you offer? I'm really curious to get a few people to go in and have a play with the profile editor and give me some feedback. Is anything too hard? Particular easy? What do you like or dislike? I think most of the dating sites are really cold and boring carbon copy clones of each other. Whatever happens, I'm planning on growing this as big as I can, so any feedback you guys could give would be greatly appreciated. The address is flirtbeat.com and when you get there, have a look at my profile "nathan", to get an idea of a decent customised arrangement.

Oh yeah the address is www.flirtbeat.com. It tried to filter me as spam before when this is clearly the place to be asking for this kind of advice.

I haven't looked up the site you mentioned, but there's a general consensus that ALL strictly online dating has passed its zenith, and people are using social networking sites like Myspace and Meetup to organize local offline groups. It's very different from just sifting through online profiles, because the local groups expect you to eventually show up at one of their offline meetings in person. A webmaster with a hard drive full of profiles would get laughed out the door if he showed up at one of these meetings.
