but I have read a lot of stuff on this forum that talk about fake profiles, scams, waste of time and money etc. I'm a 44 year old recently divorced man who wants to give the internet dating thing a try but now I am not so sure its worth the time and looks like lots of money. So..I guess what I am asking here is what my expectations should be and what I should watch out for. I have a pretty good idea but would like to get a few last opinions on this subject. Any suggestions or help would be most appreciated.

Thanks

If I where you I would try one of the big dating sites. They all have free memberships where you can at least perform searches to see if you have any possible matches. If you do join, make sure you create a detailed profile and include a few photo's.

It takes time and effort, but your chances of meeting someone are far better this way than any other (bar, laundrymat, whatever!) After only a month, I met someone and had great, but all too brief affair, (her choice to breakup, she was fresh off a divorce and realized she wasn't ready) but it made me realize it can work. I got lucky with her, at least for a few months, I'm optimistic I'll find someone else, even if not as quickly.
