Hey all,
Just a word of warning. I was just scammed by some chick on Plenty of Fish
She told me that POF now has video chat and that you have to sign up for it. I then went to the POF video chat sign up site she sent me. I signed in and added my credit card number. I was then automatically transferred to some porn cam site.
POF does not have video chat so do not fall for this!!!

Really? You game them your credit card? Why would it be a separate thing and not included in the POF upgraded membership? I was already a little concerned that the women I was talking to was to good to be true. When she brought up the video chat I knew she was...

How are people so gullible. You just hand out your credit card number to strangers? If the site does not have a legitimate customer service number they never get my credit card number regardless of if they are real or not. So a fake one...Sheesh!

Ashamedly, I just fell for the same scam.
In one of her messages, the woman directed me to a POF look-alike website where I stupidly handed over my credit info.
I immediately realized something smelled fishy and cancelled my account.
Pain in the ass.

it seems the only women on this site are scammers I have replied to three women and have got the same response. go to the video chat and enter your credit card. I have got messages in my inbox saying I have been trying to reach you. can you go to the video chat section and reply. I am not stupid, I belong to other dating sites. once you initially join no site will ask you again for your credit infor. if they do it has to be a scam. I have responded to several of these scams and told them it was a scam. all of a sudden their profile is gone. I don't know why this website does not post right from the beginning when you sign up that there is no video web chat. so beware, I have noticed that the same women contacted me again with a different profile. so beware. I am seriously thinking about deleting my profile and getting off this site. all the women I contact are scammers. from what my experience pof does not regulate its site. I suggest all of you do the same if all you get are scammers. BEWARE

They are doing nothing to prevent these profiles there's got to be a way to screen people two IP addresses or just to look at your profile when it's first put up or the first few messages you can tell right away that these are fake profile. beside is absolutely useless it's got me so gun-shy that a few women to did reach out to me I told him nice try scammer and here it was an actual person.

you're a 100% correct it's like they are doing nothing I've reported several of them and nothing happens I see them still there in the view list that they viewed me.. some of them are actually paid members it must be a small price to pay to make hundreds of someone they scan.. I've had six of them so far just tonight..

They are all saying the same crap . Ohh no need for CC get varified. And you know right away with their broken English and terrible grammar. Most of them are from some African country like Ghana. And my favorite is βIβm so and so by nameβ I mean who says that βby nameβ. They have been watching to many movies. I have to show them a picture of an article that states that thereβs no Video chat on POF. But this lame ass scammers keep persisting . They're also targeting upgraded members. if you enter your POF login information on the website that they provide a link to, they will take over your account and start trying to scam people from your hijacked account. Seems more legit if you're getting contacted by an upgraded member. I've seen an upgraded account go from a female to a male. I think the guy recovered his account.
Also, I think the company that owns POF is allowing this to happen, maybe because they benefit financially? I have noticed that when I report an upgraded account, it rarely gets deleted before 5 days or more. Standard scam accounts get deleted fairly quickly, within minutes or hours. I've seen an upgraded scam account stay on the site for over a month.

Yep I nearly got scammed today - I clicked on the link then put my username and password in - then realised "oh sh*t what am I doing?" I googled it and got this thread luckily. I quickly changed my password on the pof website. It got confusing because both pof and the scammers were texting me codes by this stage. I think I'm ok now though - I have given them my pof username and mobile though so fingers crossed no more trouble.
In hindsight it was silly of me to go along with it but you know how it is with a rush of blood to the you know where and you're a bit of a sitting duck.
The scammer had a paid account and was a pretty blond (like someone said maybe hijacked?).
Be careful out there - if you think it can't happen to you then you're possibly more vulnerable.

There is no video chat on POF, says POF.
Even if you donβt input a credit card, it asks you to input your POF login and password. Donβt input this info as it will be stolen! And then your account will be used or changed by whoever.

The POF app (not the website) actually has a way to do live video streaming now through a new feature called Live which will be rolling out over the next few weeks across North America and should be available internationally by the end of April.
Through POF Live you can broadcast your video and any POF member (who is not blocked) can check it out. They also offer 1 on 1 video chatting. The only thing I am not clear on if this is possible right away or you must use NextDate to be matched properly with someone before this 1 on 1 private video chat is available.

Hi there I just the same thing nice looking women great chat then all of the sudden she wants to video all etc. I never press any links the scammers sending, but the crazy part on this on was that the scammers behind it is an upgraded member... Crazy stuff huh? Now the scammers paying money for membership to scam people..... Just π€ͺ

For real I got like 20 fake ass women tryin to scam and they have Upgraded accounts and pics of some white chick and the donβt even speak English good. 1st sign your about to be scammed. You can live chat through the app. If you get someone who says they tried to add you and couldnβt then send you a link. 2nd sign your about to be scammed. You send a msg and they reply and answer a question you donβt even ask. 3rd sign your about to be scammed. You chat with some *censored* with a bunch of numbers at the end of their screen name and they send a Snapchat or Kik contact info. 4th sign your gonna be scammed.

Please take the advice of all of the WARNINGS here. No more than 10 minutes ago I was texting back and forth with a contact on POF. Her profile name was: Mil02020. It may have also bern: Mile02020. Something like that. Anyway, she gave me this story about how nice she was and mentioned that she had gone on one date from POF. I basically expressed my Congrats to her as I had no luck at all which I said to her. She eventually ask me to video with her through "POF Live Video". I said I had no idea about that, so I googled it. I saw one post not on here that said look for the Chat Button below the persons profile. Well on POF official website it does not exist. So then My eyes were drawn to this link on Google. I read the majority of these POSTS them I copied and pasted it on the conversation she and I were having. Sent it to her then sent another text to her on POF asking her "She said her real name was Chloe" Anyway, I asked her this question: "Chloe, how do you explain this"? Meaning all of the Posts here that I copied and pasted (sent to her ).
Well immediately, her ENTIRE profile and our Chain of Discussion-- meaning all of the msgs. we had sent to each other-- had VANISHED. I thought I was tripping at first but I was NOT. She meaning her ENTIRE profile was gone---disappeared--deleted--removed----gone.
So Guys: DO NOT respond to those Tricks or Schemes. I want to THANK ALL OF YOU FOR YOUR POSTs Here. Saved me from being scammed. Man I thought for a Minute there that I had finally found a Good---One. Still No Luck for me yet on POF but I am pleased to know that I did not take the bait-------An Absolute SCAM. SCAM. SCAM

Don't follow any link someone sends you in messages. Not sure if they can even send you links anymore with the latest POF update.
I was just on POF the other day and they do have Live streaming which allows for group and 1 on 1 video. It is for the app only and you must tap on the heart icon with 2 3/4 circle waves to access it. Here is a pic of live and you will notice the icon at the bottom of the screen shot.

I'm glad us guys are watching out for each other..There is only voice chat on POF..If you get scammed just let your bank know so they can watch for unusual credit charges .We all get scammed sooner or later no diff to the real world.. Just don't take it to heart

If you go to "help" on POF and enter live chat in the search box, it will give you all the details you need to enter the REAL live chat. Unfortunately, there are people sending links that are NOT from POF. Do not follow any link...only activate through POF.

Beware of the people who ask you to video chat. They will send u a link and when you click on it you enter your Pof username and password then it asks you to enter your credit card info. I stupidly entered my Pof site info And got to the credit card part and thought oh no. I told the person they were scamming me and I got blocked. Next thing u know they have changed my email, password and username on Pof and I canβt access my account anymore.
Over reported it to Pof and still waiting for a reply. Just lucky I didnβt enter my credit card details.

I know all of the ways to recognize scammers were mentioned in several posts so I figured I'd put it in one.

Profile name has several numbers at the end of it. Scammer

Profile looks legit but only has one picture. Scammer

Soon as you reply to a like or message they try to give you their Snapchat or Kik app. Scammer POF has all these features in the app.

Never click on any external links in chat messages. They are always from scammers

Profile is an upgraded member but the location is not complete or blank. Scammer.

This is an obvious one but I'll put it in anyway.
In the headline section right below the picture or in the profile description they will tell you to Google some name and when you Google it it goes to a porno website. Scammer
I hope these posts help more and more people recognize scammers so we can help diminish their effect. It is horrible how these people play with your emotions for cash

Well I been asked about 7 times by beautiful girls to do this video chat. Not impressed with POF at the moment. What is this all scammer site??? Maybe POS should be there name.....lol

I've seen an upgraded scam account stay on the site for over a month.

I am a lady on POF and Last time I was on POF I was asked to do live video call.Β I tried. The person sent me 4 links then I found I had $200 deducted from my bank account.Β The bank would not help me.

If you are going to confront these scammers, report them first or their account will disappear and you won't be able to. They do this to protect their stolen account from being reported and deleted.

I have been getting these requests also. Thanks to everyone here for the warning. Maybe now see how long they are willing to keep texting.
Now it might be entertaining to fake coming on to those girls (never married, want kids, etc and from a very small town.

It's not only women that do this crap! Just wasted an hour talking to this man, well at least the profile pretended to be a man. Asked me to join this site to video chat. When I said I would prefer to just give them my phone number to facetime they blocked me.ππ I swear these scammers do not stop!

Can I just say .... I got caught out by this scam , I βm female . I didnβt enter my card details but they hacked my profile . I canβt log in anymore but Iβm getting hundreds of notifications of men messaging me . Itβs really distressing to know that they are using my profile under a different username.
I was a fully paid up user , I βm not pocketing anything from this , it really stressed me out .

I might have gotten scammed but the page they sent to me spelled "password" as "pasword" which clued me in that there was a problem.

I found out that some of the links supplied use ndwhvl.com as a payment processor, if you ask your bank for a chargeback there processing account gets terminated and banned.

I had 2 people try to get me with this today but itβs really obvious what they are doing. Nobody is that pushy and desperate to video chat someone they donβt know unless something is going on.

I work for a law enforcement agency, a common denominator with online scammers that are not from the USA is the use of βhun,β or βdear.β Someone tried to scam me with this right now. I took a screenshot of the profile and of the website and reported it to POF. If you upgrade your account, you shouldnβt be entering your credit card on anything since this is a subscription based service.

I just had a guy send me a link to make phone call - it took me to another link that looked like POF official but when it asked for card I said heβll no. Mind you, this was just for a phone call not video and there is a call option on POF account page (when you try it, POF gives a disconnect message which makes you think you might need to complete verification link - but then the credit card requirement comes up - wow!)
