I have just received a letter from a Debt Recovery Agency asking for a payment of £130 for a subscription to the above site. I did not take out a subscription but did a trial subscription and unsubscribed from it. Had anyone on this site had a similar experience to me or can advise on how I should respond to this threat. Thank you in anticipation.y

Ive had £119 taken from these for a one month subscription. Ive sent an email to the only email address i can find and to delete my profile and payment has still been taken out.
Ive contacted the bank and funds will be refunded in 2 weeks if these dont contest it.
If they do contest it, anyone got any ideas on the next step?
Thanks

Anyone has updates? I subscribed for premium with the understanding that it is only severals tens of dollars every month; however, they charged me 200 plus dollars as my first payment. I have notified my bank about this, and also sent a strongly worded e-mail to c-date.
C-date responded with what looks like an automated email stating I need to settle an outstanding balance of 200 plus dollars and that they would contact a debt recovery agency if I did not do so. What should I do?

They have done the exact same to me, they have sent debt recory letters to my home address. also I have contacted the debt agency to tell them how c dates whole website is a scam and I will not pay them, they said they'd look into it but im not convinced. Anybody have any advice on what to do next? Im glad im not the only one having this problem, its so obviously a scam as they do everything in their power to stop you from deleting account, I have also heard that as soon as you pay them they start your profile back up and continue to charge you even if you request to have profile deleted, so it is just a horrible circle that you cannot get out of

So ring your bank and flag as a scam if they took money. Secondly I myself am not on any dating sites been with my misses for 8 years and happy with her (even the days we argue about petite things) but yet somehow they got my card details and made a transaction of a few hundred flagged it with bank this morning and I should get it back. I am expecting they will try and send a debt collection company after me like they have with you but on court they would lose the case purely cause they have nothing but my card details and my internet provider will have history to prove I have not been to there site (unless it's a pop up on the corner) even then I am sure it's fraud as its not been willingly taken its been stolen.

They are the worst dating company worldwide I'm suggesting to not even pay their collection agency this C-Date is a full-blown scam I had taken out a paid test subscription for 3 months without automatic renewal and they claimed I hadn't so they took out € 139,00 out of my Paypal after 3 months. I told PayPal since this was a non-auto renewal I didn't have to cancel the subscription but obviously, that is what Interdate had told them. I am now going to ignore them and see what kind of action they are trying on me. I am from the Netherlands
conclusion: DO NOT ENGAGE IN ANY DEAL WITH C-DATE

Told them I'm not paying and this is a fraudulent attempt to extract money.
I will hold on to it for later.
Any advice?

By: Anonymous (I hate Interdate SA)
Ok first off, the site is entirely a scam.
Most, or at least many of the profiles, are faked.
Secondly, after much research and back and forth with Interdate SA here is what they try to tell you.
You agreed to pay a recurring subscription, to a value of 19.95 (or local equivalent) for a period of X months. They then tell you that the amount is weekly, and they charge you for the total of the subscription in one lump sum.
I personally believed I was paying a one of payment of 19.95. I contacted them very quickly after seeing how much of a scam the site was to cancel my subscription. At this point I noticed a lot, like seriously, a lot of complaints about their pricing and over charging and essentially fraudulent practice.
I contacted them very quickly, both by email, and made the relevant removal of contract on paper by letter to their office in Luxembourg. Very unusual to begin with, which is the start of the alarm bells.
I contacted them and withdrew my contract. You need to do this withing 7 days if they actually give you some documentation at point of payment. I received absolutely no documentation either electronic, or otherwise, at point of payment. In the case where you have no documentation sent to you, you have 90 days to withdraw without penalty. They are required by law in the Civil Code of contracts of Luxembourg to reimburse, without penalty in this case.
The relevant law can be found in english if you search the term
"Law of 14 August 2000 relating to electronic commerce Luxembourg"
Note that the french version is the binding version but this is an english translation of the same law.
The relevant articles are found from Article 53 to article 56.
If you follow the rules laid out here, you are protected by law -
Meaning that if Interdate refuses to refund at this point (assuming you withdrew in time) then you can contact the Grand-Ducal of Luxembourg and report them to the monitoring Authority. From what I can tell they continually tell you that you do not have the right of withdrawal when the right and how to are clearly outlined in the applicable law.
This will also mean you were not negligent with your card supplier (ie the bank) and you should be able to contest and never pay them a cent.
My advice is do not pay them if you wish to withdraw.
Contest the charge. Follow the rules in the law, and you are protected. Also block them from making any further charges with your card provider.
Also make sure you do the fax or paper mail withdrawal of your contract!
Hopefully this helps someone.

Hi there,
I visit the C-date once, I paid something because there was no option to go forward. I realised that it's not what I'm looking for so I left it. After a few months, I received an email from Interdate that I have to pay 128£ for their service. I started an email arguing but only polite responds I received from them with the conclusion that I have to pay. I said that I didn't use the service, I didn't visit the website since that time and I didn't receive any text messages or email as a reminder that this is the time for renewal of your membership but again - you have to pay. I told them that this is a real scam and I'm not paying anything to them and then was quiet. That was last June. Now is October and I received a letter from the Intrum company which is collecting the money in the name of Interdate.
What to do? Ignore it?

ignore it and remind them they have to take you to court first to get a court order before the debt collectors can be sent in otherwise its just law of the jungle
so ask for a proof from court

Thank you. As a UK resident and EU citizen you are entitled to have any proceedings commenced in your own country (as defendant). Unless you have assets in another country there is no point in them starting proceedings anywhere else but the UK. You cannot be forced to attend court in another country - for a civil matter.
I would send the response to the debt collection agency
online feedback shows nobody has been taken to court for enforcement so just ignore it as idel threats

Same has happened to me expecting to pay £2.99 as agreed for membership but the 1st payment they took £11.96. I emailed them on that day and just said cancel it all but making it very difficult to cancel. Despite a UK website & App they seem to be based in Luxembourg. My bank said they can't take more money but a month later they did of £119 like others here. Luckily I contacted my bank's fraud team and they got my £119 back and have blocked them now. However I'm getting more emails saying Final Notice and that I owe £129 now!! I spoke to Citizens Advice who have reported to Trading Standards and now have spoken to Action Fraud Police and filed a report. The Fraud Police have advised me not to reply or contact them and don't believe they will send Debt collectors which was the big worry.
Agree 100% the are massive scammers and really regret signing up. Not sure if my memebership will ever be cancelled but they can't get anymore money and hopefully no debt collectors and I removed my photos at least.
I hoping this is the end of the matter but they don't seem to be accepting cancellation through email as sufficient even though EU Law states consumers have the rights to cancel through a simple email.
I have reported them to Action Fraud Police UK and EUROPEAN ANTI-FRAUD OFFICE, you can google them and make your report there.

Hi all,
Just to let you know that C date in my opinion is a scam site pure and simple, The 'director' behind the company has a name easily traceable on the net and is also 'allegedly' responsible for several other 'suspected' dating sites around Europe (see 'be2' in Denmark for example) It seems the best way to deal with this company once you find yourself signed up and scammed is to email them direct from their Trust pilot email which they then have to respond to legally. please also note you can use the 'model withdrawal' form sent attached to the original 'YOUR A PREMIUM MEMBER' email, this can be cut and pasted into an email and then edited /deleted as required, make sure you put in the details requested in the small print. Then make sure you block any future payments from your bank, Any future threatening letters received from them or debt collectors from around Europe are unsafe and not viable for legal enforcement as you have followed their procedures to cancel to the letter, keep all of your correspondence which is legally binding, you can then threaten them with the UK SFO and the relevant Euro equivalent if they try to persist. Basically its the classic con of trying everything to make you pay and once you do they won't turn it off. This site will eventually disappear when enough attention comes their way and then a replacement will take it's place, so be warned.... there is no such thing as a free lunch in life.
same guy as at be2 tells you he is the worst of the worst for scamming

Hi,
Just want to know as many of you signed up a long time ago, has anybody ever received any actual action taken against them like debt collection agencies coming to their door or has it all just been a fake front to try and get people to pay? Please let me know. I've tried to unsubscribe and sent them an email. I initially paid via PayPal but once seeing reviews immediately informed and canceled preapproved payment. PayPal sed they can assure me that the company will not be able to charge me anything. I'm really worried

Hi, i went onto this site and set up what I thought was a one off payment via PayPal. I noticed recurring payments for 3 months , then took all my payment cards off my PayPal. I've since received a debt collectors letter from CMS. they're wanting me to pay £85 . I can't seem to find means of cancellation , so I'm hoping just to ignore them and hopefully they'll just go away . I live in northern Ireland, and we don't have bailiffs or anything like that. Anyone that has any similar stories and if they've came to a conclusion, I'd like to hear about it. It's a full scam imo, and after reading these reports , I'm even more certain of that.

Hi,
Yes I have had contact with ecollect for the sum of £230.53 with a threat of court action and I am in the UK, they are based in berlin, Germany! I have advised them that I will not and hold no responsibility for this amount and challenged the evidence suggesting that I knew the terms and conditions, I also send an email stating that if I continue to receive harassment letters, they will be liable under the below
Pursuing someone for money they do not owe in the UK is a criminal offence under S.40 of the Administration of Justice Act 1970;
If you continue with this harassment, I reserve the right to (i) Report them to the police and (ii) hold you responsible for my legal costs associated with defending yourself;
any other advise would be helpful
Thank you

Had the same problem with trying to cancel my subscription with C date. Tried the trial and after realising I couldn’t cancel and I was trapped I blocked my card before they could take any money. I then had a email from Luxembourg a debt collector asking for money. I’ve ignored for months and today received another email from another debt collector eos solutions. Asking to talk to me regarding they’re client c date. My reply. I have been on the phone to police cyber fraud and reported this website directly to actionfraud.police.uk, I have a crime reference number/case number.
I have been advised not to pay and would advise you to get in touch directly with action fraud about this “debt”, not me. I deny any liability to this money you are trying to claim.

We just discovered payments totalling almost 12000 kr (about £1000) which have been taken from my husbands credit card over the last year. He says he never signed up or gave his card details, and I believe him. I hope we can get it back through the credit card company.
This happened to anyone else?
Can it be classed as identity theft? We have insurance for that.
Thanks,

It's the good old scare tactics.
First they scam you into joining and take money, more than what you believe was going to be taken.
You cancel, if you are lucky.
Most can't cancel, so you block your card, tell the bank ect, do all the correct tstuff.
Then the letters start, either paper or email, threatening debt collectors and law suites ect.
I have had these for over 2 years now, I just bin them and ignore them. My last one, the 4th one I think, was offering a settlement figure, which was nice seeing as the previous ones were debt collection and court appearances ect!
They will bang out hundreds of these to anyone scammed into the site, hoping one or two will be scared enough to pay up, obviously generic, mass printed letters.
Do nothing guys...ignore them at all costs. Do you honestly think they will send debt collectors to you from Europe? For a few hundred quid? None of this will stand up in UK law anyway.
Nasty scammers.

I know im rambling but please read and help me I dont know what to do
I have started to recieve letters from a debt collector (CMS) based in Germany stating that I owe £90+, I emailed c-date back in October 2022 to cancel my subscription but wasn't given a response. When they charged me again I blocked them through PayPal. I hadn't heard anything until just a few days ago (mid February 2023) where I was sent a letter stating this was my second letter and final warning. I never actually recieved a first letter just the second letter.
As of right now I have emailed the debt collector and c-date. I have told the debt collector that they are working with a fraudulent company that is stealing money. I also accused c-date of being fraudsters and that they will not be recieving any money from me.
A summary of what they responded with -
Debt collector: show us proof of termination and we will no longer make claims against you, it had to be done though their terms and conditions which is either email, fax or post. If not then pay up...
C-date: we are a legitimate business, transfer us what you owe and them we will cancel your membership...
The first email I sent (October 2022) c-date was a simple "hi I'd like to cancel my subscription" hoping they'd get back to me with the next steps which they didn't respond. I have now sent them both screenshots of many chats and forums of everyone having the same problem and told them that paying up isn't an option because of what many others have experienced after paying up first...
Now I dont know what to do, should I keep talking with them and try to find a way out or should I just completely ignore them and throw out all letters that they send me? Should I be worried about them taking legal action?

I also receiving these lawyer letters. Pretty sure it's a scare tactic and as they would have to take me to court in my own country they have no legal legs to stand on. But if someone legally minded wants to correct me please do. I feel fax only is not an appropriate method of cancellation and they are well aware of this, so this is their method of trying to extort money.

I'm also getting emails from Themys and Dykes lawyers because of a Dating site called Date my Age which I paid my subscription to. A year later and I am being threatened. I do not owe them money as I sent them numerous emails asking them to remove my details as I had met a scammer on that site.
I am based in South Africa.
I will ignore them until they take me to court in S A.
These are scammers working with saying sites. This was my first experience on a dating site and will be my last.

Have been receiving emails for around about a year and a half now from this company, claiming they are debt collectors for Dating Site called B 2.
After being on this site for a month, I cancelled my subscription deleted my profile, change my bank details, change my debit card information.
And then they started to email me, threatening legal action.
I have requested them to send this information via registered postal mail which they have stated they will not do. I have tried to make contact via their phone number which is disconnected. Have stated this looks like a fraud and scam.
Still, I receive stressful, messages, demanding payment.
I’m going to treat this as a hoax and not pay them. Hopefully other people don’t pay them either. This society is hard enough as it is without people trying to rip us off.
🤬

Hi has anyone actually had the debt collectors noted on their credit file ?
I was told as a female I did not have to pay for the service an and was never asked for account details/payment information.
I set up two profiles to try and sort this mess out:
One profile was deleted but I didn’t cancel.
They have stated the profile is totally deleted including all my information.
The other I cannot access at all and they refuse to help.
Any updates at all would be grateful as I am losing sleep over this

Interdate is indeed a scam. I am being sent paper letters from their debt recovery operator in Salzburg Austria.
I notice from the global scale of complaints that this illegal operation has been unstoppable for many years.
I have evidenced my cancellation in accordance with their onerous T&C’s yet they continue to make financial demands.
I will no longer respond.
They are operating illegally so will not take anyone to court.
Somebody needs to close them down and prosecute the owners and their employees.
