Ok, I know how this sounds. I overheard my boyfriend of two years saying how he was just peaking though pof (plenty of fish). I confronted him about it and he swore he was not on the site. He said he had old accounts on there that he did not know how to delete. So ok, I know this is bad, but made an account just to see if he'd message me... Didn't put up a pic, but just said I was from his town and a few other things that I know would catch his eye, if he was on there...and yup, a few weeks later he messaged my fake account. I said something to him about it, and he swore he has not been on the site in two years. I kind of know that answer to this, but thought I'd just give him one chance...instead of just walking away after two years. Does pof ever take old accounts that haven't been used in a while to message members?? I know how nieve I sound right, so a simple answer with out telling me how dumb I sound would be great lol. Is there any way pof will use old user accounts in any way? Like is there some kind of system that just regenerates messages even tho the user themself has not been on?

As far as I know POF does not send out generated messages from their members account. I would say this is true for all of the top 5 dating sites/apps. I have been a Plenty of Fish member for over 2 years off and on.
This unfortunately does happen in the online dating industry though. The site Ashley Madison allegedly does it and people complain a lot about "Adult" dating sites and apps which a large number apparently do it as well.
