As more people head back into the office after two years of working from home, Tinder has relaunched its popular Desk Mode feature.

Desk Mode is a convenient cover-up if you are browsing profiles on your work computer. When you click on the feature button, a small briefcase icon located in the top left corner of the screen, a decoy “Meeting Notes” screen will pop up on your monitor if your boss happens to walk in and catch you.

If you actually read the screen, Tinder had a little fun with the details. It includes an agenda to “buy drinks” and “order nachos with the works” and ends in a “late night ice cream run.” There’s also a graph showing “swipe stats for selfies” which includes “shirtless selfie” and “pics of my yacht.” Meeting recap notes are listed at the bottom, including “didn’t know the difference between a pale ale and a pilsner.”

The feature was initially released in 2017 but taken out of commission on and off since, and now it’s back in time for National Intern Day, according to Yahoo! News. The last time the company turned it on was in 2021, when people were just starting to go back to the office.

Tinder’s spokesperson told Yahoo! that this launch date was strategic, "as the art of multitasking will be hardest to master for the newest additions to the workforce."

The company surveyed 1,000 of its users and found that about 47 percent of respondents actually prefer to do their dating app swiping at work, including matching with others and striking up conversations via messages. Nearly a third of its users have taken it to the next level and swiped left and right while sitting in a work meeting. And about 32 percent admitted to going on a date while they were working from home, according to The Daily Mail.

Desk Mode follows a flurry of new Tinder features, including Festival Mode to help users connect at concerts and music festivals as well as Swipe Party, which lets users invite non-Tinder friends to virtually join them as they swipe through profiles. It’s better to get your friends to buy in to your dating choices, right?

Tinder is also looking into dating in the metaverse, including letting users choose avatars and allowing them access to dating in virtual spaces, with perks like sending virtual gifts over the app.
