Tinder announced the launch of its new feature Festival Mode, designed to bring singles together through their mutual love of live music.

The dating app company partnered with Live Nation, as well as event producers AEG Presents and Superstruct Entertainment to offer users who plan to attend festivals this year the opportunity to connect with other attendees over the app, so they can meet up. Participants can match with others as early as a month before the event, and the app will feature over 20 of the biggest festivals across the globe, including The Governors Ball, Bonnaroo, Stagecoach and EDC Las Vegas, as well as Lollapalooza Paris, Falls Festival in Australia, Sonar in Spain and All Points East in the UK.

The feature will also include a “Festival Goers” space for those who don’t see their event listed or simply want to be part of “festival culture,” according to Tinder’s press release. Festival Mode will be part of the Explore section of the app.

Tinder had offered this feature back in 2019, but the pandemic halted any plans for it to take off among users. Now with people venturing out again after two years of lockdowns, and as mask mandates are being phased out, Tinder was ready to relaunch with live music event partners.

“Music is a universal language and the number-one interest among Tinder members worldwide,” said Kyle Miller, VP of Product Innovation at Tinder. “Festival Mode gives you a chance to get yourself back out there, meet new people, and make friends before you hit the festival grounds. It’s a great, low-pressure way to make real world connections again.”

Maureen Ford, Live Nation's president of national and festival sales, added: “Live events create some of life’s most unforgettable moments largely thanks to the people we enjoy them with.”

The research backs this up, as Tinder points out in its press release. One in three singles say they are planning to attend a music festival or concert this year, and 64 percent say they like meeting new people while attending a live music event. Sixty-one percent say they’ve become friends or romantically involved with people they’ve met at a concert or music festival.

Festival Mode follows the launch of two other notable features, Blind Date (which allows Tinder users to chat before they can view each other’s profile), and Background Checks (so users can see if their match has a history of violence before agreeing to meet).

Festival Mode is now live in all markets, along with the full list of featured live music events. For more on this dating app you can read our Tinder review.
