Online dating may have started as a young person’s game, but it’s rapidly become a platform for singles of all kinds to make connections. Services like, Senior People Meet, and Stitch cater to older users in search of love and companionship, and now they’re joined by a new offering from Snap Interactive: 50more.

SNAP, a leading provider of live video social networking and interactive dating applications, announced the US rollout of its newest platform on July 12, 2017. 50more was built to celebrate life and the enduring potential for romance and enrichment for singles over 50 years of age. The service aims to create higher quality connections by matching based on three key compatibility factors: vitality, openness, and culture (VOC).

VOC-driven matching is rooted in scientific principles to effectively bring people together with similar interests, passions, and goals. The service sends users a selection of personalized introductions each day, carefully selected based on each individual’s VOC percentage, eliminating the need to spend hours searching for matches.

In an effort to offer a superior user experience, particularly for singles who may not be as tech-savvy as their younger counterparts, 50more made intuitive navigation a priority. It’s easy to find, connect, and communicate with others, and profiles put a premium on transparency. From concise bios and photos, to values and cultural insights, details are clearly displayed and designed to present a holistic view of the person.

SNAP initially tested the platform in the first quarter of 2017, registering over 10,000 users and creating more than 7,500 matches. Speaking about the beta response, SNAP CEO Alex Harrington said:

The response from the limited beta launch of 50more in the second quarter of 2017 has been overwhelmingly positive. Test market data showed strong user engagement and monetization, affirming our product thesis and providing the evidence and learnings we needed for a full launch. What is particularly exciting is the large investment users made in filling out their matching profile, averaging approximately 50 detailed questions per user, demonstrating a high commitment from beta customers in finding higher quality matches through our product.

He went on to note that the 50-plus segment is one of the industry’s fastest-growing and most underserved. Data backs it up. Nielsen marketing insights predicted that by 2017, 50 percent of the US population will be over the age of 50 and this group will control 70% of the disposable income in the US. According to Pew Research, online dating market penetration by 55- to 64-year-olds doubled in the two years between 2013 and 2015.

"In an age of swiping dating apps with negligible profile content,” Harrington continued, “we believe 50-plus singles are signaling that they are tired of impersonal and superficial matching. 50more is one of the only interactive dating services to directly address the 50-plus audience with a solution tailored to their needs."
