Ever downloaded Tinder or Bumble in the hopes of meeting someone who looked like Ryan Gosling or Chris Pratt? Well, look no further – dating app Badoo has launched its new Lookalikes feature to help you out.

The app provides a list of various celebrities for users to choose from (think Beyonce, Kim Kardashian, Jessica Alba, Henry Cavill, Jake Gyllenhaal, and even Donald Trump). When you click on that celebrity’s photo, a list of choices with profile pictures of your matches appears.

The app uses facial recognition technology to scour their database of 350 million daters to deliver the results. The matches aren’t exactly spitting images, but there are certain features that they and their celebrity counterparts have in common to consider them a lookalike. (Although I question a 40-something Jennifer Lawrence, for instance).

According to an article in Men’s Health Magazine, the most sought-after female celebrity lookalikes include Selena Gomez, Kim Kardashian, Beyonce and Kylie Jenner (no surprises there). The most popular male lookalikes include Kevin Durant, Chris Evans, Chris Pratt and interestingly, Barack Obama. Perhaps some daters are feeling a bit of nostalgia for 2008?

Another interesting part of the facial recognition technology is that it doesn’t just work with celebrities. You can actually upload a photo of your crush IRL, or find him on Facebook – that person you haven’t gotten the nerve to ask out, or perhaps they are already taken, like your married boss – and Badoo’s technology will help you find a doppelganger for your crush, too.

“Everyone has their own type, and it’s easy to refer to your favorite celebs to describe what your preference in looks are,” Badoo CEO Andrey Andreev said in an interview with Bravo TV’s blog. “In my opinion, it’s more about finding someone with similar attributes as opposed to finding an exact lookalike.”

Dating apps are looking for the next gimmick to keep their users engaged. In addition to the lookalike feature from Badoo, other apps like Hinge, Match and Bumble are launching video features to engage more users. Taking a leaf out of Instagram and Snapchat’s playbooks, these dating apps are letting users creatively curate their own video to incorporate in their profiles, hoping to generate some stickiness.

Badoo is partnered with dating app Bumble, so we might expect something similar from them soon, too. Until then, you can look to Badoo to help you find someone who looks like your personal trainer, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, or perhaps even your ex. But it might be good to branch out beyond just looks, too.
