The Yahoo marketing department must of reviewed Yahoo Personals lately. There are no real graphic changes but the wording has been updated on the homepage. The first thing I notice was the new page title. A few months ago it was:

Find Singles with the Top Online Dating Site -- Yahoo! Personals

Short and sweet, with the dating site name at the end. This wouldn't have been my first choice but let's see if the new one is any better:

Yahoo! Personals -- Better first dates. More second dates. Discover great singles at Yahoo! Personals. You'll love the online dating site where it's free to search and post your profile. Find your perfect match.

For the homepage of any website, the name of the site should be the first thing in a page title. This is the page most people will Favorite/Bookmark and the name of the site should be at the beginning and not the middle or end for easy reference. This new page title has had more thought put into it but, it is way too long and needs to be cut in half. I really do like the first part "Better first dates. More second dates" but the rest needs to be changed.

The other text updates on the home page are fine, with the exception of the bottom tag line for searching:

Finding someone may not happen for everyone, but it can happen to anyone. Start Searching >>

The wording is a bit confusing. I like the fact that they are trying to be honest and say that online dating may not work for everyone but I find the statement is to negative, plus there are too many one's in the sentence. Maybe short and simple would work here as well:

Finding someone can happen to anyone. Start Searching >>
