For 2019 Match is the Editor's Top Pick - Paid award recipient. Since its inception Match has always been a paid dating service. It is free to look at profiles and search but a subscription is required to send messages to other members. While "Free" dating services are the latest craze their low bar of entry (i.e. no credit card required) means that scammers and bots tend to be much more prevalent. Match is very good at blocking scammers from even joining their service, thereby protecting their members. Being a paid service also means Match.com has the money to invest in the latest technology and hire some of the best trained developers.
Match has been around almost 25 years and with that comes experience and a lot of members. You all have seen their advertising on TV, and this marketing and their reputation brings new members in constantly. Match has a high turnover rate of members but for a leading dating service this is expected. It means that members are meeting and going out on dates, and becoming exclusive with each other. A dating service is supposed to bring people together quickly and once that is done the members subscription is no longer required.
Match has a fairly even break down of members by age group. This means it doesn't matter if you are a young professional in your late twenties or someone who has just retired, as Match will have many members in your age group interested in meeting someone like you.
The longer your subscription term on Match the cheaper the per month cost it is. You can pay as low as $21 a month for a Standard plan and only $22 a month for a Premium plan.
