OkCupid Features and Changes Revisited for 2021

OkCupid has made a lot of changes to its platform over the past year, especially as activity and subscribers on the app increased during the pandemic. Among the most notable changes are a new pricing structure, added features like DealBreakers, and the ability to match with someone from across the world.
The popular dating app adjusted its pricing tiers and did away with its “A-List” membership in favor of Basic and Premium paid services. (The free service is still available for those who don’t want to upgrade.) With a Basic membership, you can Like an unlimited number of profiles instead of waiting for Likes to reset. You also get an ad-free experience, according to the company’s blog.
The company ditched its Intros feature, which means that non-paying members can no longer message another user until they have both Liked each other.
However, OkCupid is offering Super Likes along with a feature called Notes that allows you to send a message to someone you’re really interested in meeting, a spin on the old Intros feature. Each user gets one free Super Like per week, and if you are really interested, you can also send them a Note before they Like you back to try and win them over.
The Premium membership is a step above Basic, and includes features like Who Likes You, where you can see a list of other users who have Liked you before you Like them. You can also see the answers to all of your matches’ public questions before you answer questions yourself, giving you a little insight in advance. If you were already an A-List member, you won’t lose any of the old features that came with that subscription as long as you keep your account active, but once it lapses, if you return to the platform, you’ll have to purchase a new membership without all the A-List benefits.
DealBreakers is a new feature OkCupid added to allow you to filter matches based on what’s most important to you, available for both paying and non-paying members. OkCupid will filter potential matches who meet your basic “must have” criteria.
OkCupid has also revised the Stacks feature, where you can now view matches based on new categories, like Question Pros (those who answer the most questions), Recommended (OkCupid match recommendations specifically for you), Online (those who were recently on the app), Nearby (those who are close to your location), Popular and New People.
The platform continues to change up its offerings, so be on the watch for new features, such as vaccination and climate badges, as well as new perks that come with paid memberships.
