It's DatingSitesReviews.com birthday this month!
I can't believe it has been exactly 20 years ago today this website came online and we are still going strong.
We have produced over 5600 articles and have a dating forum with almost 14,000 posts. We have seen a lot of dating services come and go. In fact there has been 50 reviews moved to the out of business category due to the service being shut down. The total number of detailed reviews we have researched and created for service businesses in the dating industry is 149. Each of these reviews that is for a company currently in business also gets updated several times a year with a major rewrite happening every 2-3 years. It is a lot of work!
From our detailed reviews, our visitors have also publish 2,737 of their own reviews on our website along with 6,750 comments on articles, pages, and reviews.
We have seen a lot of traffic over the years and a few posts/pages even went viral. We have one post that has had almost 2.5 MILLLION views and several others over the 1.5 million mark.
Dating service companies have continued to consolidate with the clear winner in this group being Match Group followed by Bumble. As soon as a dating service starts to show some popularity it tends to be acquired up by one of these 2 parent companies.
Dating services continue to be launched as entrepreneurs look for the next hot ticket. Most of these dating services are only available as apps on phones and tablets. Very few now days have a website component that allows users to login and use the service.
Unfortunately most of these new dating apps end up failing. It's extremely difficult to go up against the marketing machine and the budget they have from Match Group.
10 years ago we talked about social networks invading the dating sector. While Facebook did release a dating component, it didn't seem to put much of a dent in the dating industry though. In fact you don't hear much about social media taking and the dating industry unless it comes to relationship advice or influencers on YouTube pushing 1 service or another.
We have been here since the start of online dating when Match.com ruled. We have been through it all and saw the rise of the current king, Tinder. We have seen dating trends and features come and go, even with a few of them coming back (like Video Dating).
Here is to the next 20 years and seeing where it goes next!
