According to Reuters, Matchmakers in Singapore are seeing business slowing down due to the current economy problems. One Matchmaking company reported a 10% decrease in business.
These Matchmakers are different from most online dating sites. They offer a more one on one customer relationship and can charge men thousands of dollars a month to help them find a wife. Looking at some popular dating sites in North America, (the September statistics where just released) it looks like on average, online dating experienced a minor increase in visitors for the month of September.
How much do you plan to spend during October / November, when compared to the summer? Take our poll to share your answer:
1/1: In this current recession, how will your spending on dating change?
| I plan to spend more! | 14.34% |
| About the same. | 34.54% |
| Less than usual. | 25.56% |
| None, I've quit dating. | 25.56% |
As of writing this story on the morning of Oct 17, 2008 we only have 7 votes (the poll is only a day old). It's not much to go on at the moment but all but 1 voter is saying they will spend about the same amount of money as in previous months.
