Wrong! While the pay-only format indeed weeds out many time-wasters, the site itself is a waste of time! Their matching algorithm--if there is one--is a sick joke: I live in New England, yet I get flirts from women in California and Virginia? And my search results occasionally turn up a MAN'S profile among the women's ones! Plus, you can't search by deal-breaking criteria like religion, education, body type, and others...
Anyway, most of the worthwhile women on OurTime are also on PoF (and, ladies, I'm sure the same goes for the men); you still have to screen out losers and users, but it's a free service. (I did buy the PoF upgrade, though, because I value the extra features.)
Don't waste your time and money; OurTime's time is over...
Save your money and your privacy! Join eHarmony instead, but if you do join Our Time, at least don't use your real email address unless you want to receive nasty porn spam.
The profile questions are the same as they are on most other websites, which is likely to be disappointing to people who've lived long enough to look for something more complex in a mate than knowing his or her favorite book or movie. It's very limited in scope, choosing to fit people in neat, standard categories, allowing for little to no deviation from a few norms. Anyone who's experience and intellect goes beyond standard and traditional categorizing or thought processes will be highly disappointed.
I've been on this site for over a year. A waste of time and money. To add insult to injury their renewal policy is deceptive. If you disable their "Automatic Renewwal" feature under "My Accounts" be careful to monitor the expiration date. My disable was not honored and I continued to use the site past the renewal date (waiting for the renewal notice to appearthat never did) and was told that since I used the site past the renewal date I was not getting a refund for the unauthorized renewal.
Will I find men in my age group or should I try another site like Match.com or Eharmony?
Eharmony sends out profiles of people who are no longer a member of the service and those who are not active at all.
Also, their writing, spelling, etc.leaves one to wonder if they ever got out of the first grade.
If none live in your area then I would try Match.com next since they are larger but contain all ages.
