Mingle 2 (Mingle2.com)

If you want to try a free dating site, then Mingle2.com might be the dating site for you. It takes 30 seconds to create an account and start searching for a match. But what Mingle 2 makes up for with a speedy membership signup process, it can lead to a lot of empty-looking profiles, as well as sparse-looking search results list. They also have ads running down the side, which at times can be confusing since they can also look like a profile you can click on to view (which then just brings you to another dating site). Another problem with a dating site that has only a minimal profile is that it may skew members’ relationship types towards the casual relationship or hook-up. The reason for this is because more emphasis is placed on profile photos than on profile information.

Mingle 2 does offer all the tools needed for online dating. You have a competent email system and instant messenger. Searching, while easy, does leave room for improvement. Allowing members to filter on activity would help as well as offering more search options. Mingle2 is a free dating site, but members can subscribe to have their profile highlighted and appear first in the search results. The side effect of this I found was I would always see the same profiles on the first few pages of my searches (unless each search used completely different criteria). This will create frustration for users who wish to tweak their search settings to bring up better matches.

Mingle2.com seems to be most popular in the United States with an equal number of members in all age groups. Our team’s recommendation is, if you are NOT looking for a long-term relationship, then give this dating site a try. Sign up and do a quick check to find out if there are members living in your area; if not, you may want to give a more popular dating site like Match.com a chance.

The best features for singles of this online dating site Positive Features

The worst features for singles of this online dating site Negative Features

  • Some of the online text ads use the same color text as the menu items which can make it hard to tell the difference
  • Very basic profile information makes it hard to gauge if the person is a match
  • Search results of profiles do not contain much information; would be nice if it would show the last time the member was active

The phone texting service is a co-registration offer. When you create an account, there are several co-registration offers. If you are not interested in an offer, simply remove the check mark next to the offer. If you have inadvertently signed up for the texting service, you can discontinue the offer by locating any message you have received on your phone, and reply with the word "stop". You should receive confirmation within 1-2 minutes that the service has been cancelled.

If you have any questions, please use the 'contact us' link at the very bottom of the Mingle2 page. We'll be happy to help. (please be sure to enter your email address on your query, so that we are able to contact you)

Regards,
Mark

Yes you can hit stop. But the first charge will be there. Sorry this is nothing more than a cheap scam and it was not very clear when I was signing up. As a matter of fact complaints should be filed with the FCC as well as Better Business Bureau.

You have to install the "Shop At Home" toolbar to complete the registration process. Spyware!

I am not sure where you have encountered such a download. I suspect you may have clicked and ad? You do not have to download any tool bars to create or use your Mingle2 account.

If you like, you can click the 'contact us' link on Mingle2 and explain in depth. I'll be happy to help.

Thanks,
Mark

As to the free dating on the site, is just average. The mutual match for free subscribers is kinda confusing because a person receives an email on their home email stating that someone wants to meet them but they cannot find out who it is unless they use the mutual match and click yes or maybe with the same person who did the same which created the email. As to the forums, they are more like a chat place for visiting but with moderation. Most of the mods are great but there a few who are cliquish and can be unfair because of it. There are admins to go above the mods if needed an hopefully that will be a fair result. Outside of that the forums are usually fun.

Contrary to the revew basic "Mutual Match" is free, but there is a paid addition that allows you to see if anyone clicked yes on your profile. With a free account you get notified if you both clicked yes on each others profile.

Personally I like the message boards there, mostly people simply "play" on the boards and get to know one another. Since the profiles are minimal it does make a nice way to get to know people better.  I have had a few dates and friends come from my profile on Mingle2 in the last 3 years since I joined.

Yes there is a help section. I have used it myself many times and the response is usually quick. Either the other members or moderators/admins answer.

As far as scammers, I have reported several and they are deleted from the site very quickly. I have been on just about every site and I haven't seen a site that deals with scammers so quick. Scammers are every where. It is impossible for a site to be scammer free, but all you have to do is report them. I can see what sites are good by this. Some sites don't care to remove them because it boosts their membership numbers.

I, aslo, like this site because they keep the drama to a minimum. Things that should be kept in emails and private, aren't allowed on the forums. The vileness and nasty posts I've seen on other sites, don't really exist here. Debating is one thing but the attacks I have seen on many other sites is ridiculous.

Keep up the good work Mingle2

Very bad site so watch out, The site is full of scammers and the only people who populate the forums are people who stay online all day and are all a part of a clique. Do your research this site is crap and not even worth your time.
