Can someone give me an approximate figure as to how many messages a fairly attractive (but not stunning) woman in her 50's would get on OKCupid? I've been on the site for two weeks, have messaged about 30 women and have had 2 responses, one of them negative, one of them neutral (i.e. no follow up info) For the record I am a well established musician with a good career, some money in the bank and I don't look like a gargoyle. Each of my messages was well crafted, contained information about myself and, when possible, some humor. I am not harboring any disappointment - I meet enough women through my profession and the dating site is more of a diversion and fun activity. But I'm simply wondering if all these relatively average looking women in their late 40's to mid 50's are so incredibly swamped with messages that they just cannot respond? Or are many of the profiles fake or bots? What's going on on these sites?

In my last response to this "number of responses" question, I neglected to provide that number. Reasonably attractive women get very many. I have just read one woman's recent journal entry, in which she is complaining that she get at least 25 letters from men a day, and that these letters are only brief salutations or "hellos". She doesn't seem to appreciate that all members have already filled out self profiles, and that often these are extremely detailed and have taken many hours to produce. I can't help wondering what this woman wants from men who respond. Nothing seems good enough for her. This is typical behavior on this site, and many of the women are just plain irrational, if not crazy. Watch your step, because if you get on the wrong side of one of these, they'll roast you in their journals.

I've been on this site about two years. I've found that the women in their fifties have "issues" (problems), and there are almost NO exceptions to this rule. Their primary flaw is that they are unwilling to accept any man for a long-term relationship who isn't PERFECT. They seem to be used to living well. Yet almost all of these women harbor peculiar, eccentric ideas. While they often claim lofty educations, they impress me as relatively uneducated people whose only real skill is in English.
