Be2.com's Crappy Membership Cancelling Process

I 2 have received a bill for 255.92 euro's and have had legal advise from a well known magazine, where advice is free: I was told to write a letter (I emailed them as it is in Germany)
The email read: (Copy this letter and send to them)

re: your ref number (their Debt ref no)

Unfair term in consumer contracts regulations, 1999, Reg 5, I am covered not to pay this bill.

I will clarify this, and explain why, just in case your not a ware of what rules and regulations I am talking about.

1/. There has to be a balance on both parties to that contract, hiding things which is not reasonable, I joined online, and need to putting it in writing to cancel. In the judges eyes this would not be balanced as I joined online.

2/. It is gives the impression that it is a one off payment and hided in the terms says there are further payments due, unless I put it in writing (The contract was entered into on The Internet)

3/. It would be considered Unfair and unreasonable in the light of sections 1 and 2 of this email.

4/. This too could be considered har*censored*ment, which is a criminal offence .

5/. The court would strike out that term that is one sided (both parties need the same terms)

6/. You have no right to keep adding charges when I don’t owe the money,

Therefore, no further money due and if you feel you have a availed claim take it to court and let the judge decide.

I am not going to put this in writing as it will add extra costs to me.
I have sent this email back to my email account so I have a copy of time and date it was sent.

Like have pointed out it is a criminal offence to har*censored*ment me for money I do not owe and should you wish to pursue this, take me to court and let the judge decide. But, the judge will strikeout anything that's not balanced (The same for both parties) and not one sided.

I hope this helps

why don't you do what another complainant did - just cancel your credit card. Might be a bit inconvenient but probably not quite as much as having to deal with them giving you the runaround. If you check out other complaints on the net (just b2 dating site complaints) you'll see you are not alone by a longshot. Good luck

Cheers

I agree, they're a SCAM! Big time.
I got the run around when I tried to delete my profile, so I rang my bank & told them them not to allow Be2 to withdraw any money from my credit card, short of cancelling my card entirely.

Good
luck

Further to my other comment the red flag went up when I had to put in my annual income.
I could not proceed until I filled this in.....duh!!
No other dating site I have joined ever asked for this information.

Simply: don't respond and don't feel afraid of them! Ignore threats, block them in your email or simply cancel your mailbox. Your peace of mind is worth it! Also remember: to do some legal action takes more money than you owe them! To hire an accountant, solicitor etc costs serious money - they simply take advantage of people who are easy to threaten! And what about interest of arrears, which always applies to any owed money? They never mention it - just want certain amount from you. Think!
