I found this site frustrating to say the least.

I've found this site frustrating to say the least. Most men wind up putting out hundreds of emails to only get maybe 4 responses. Of that maybe one woman is worth talking to. I've found the women on this website stuck up and have their expectations through the roof. Its sad really because if you do get to talking to them you find out they are better looking then their personality would show. Looks may get your foot in the door but personality is more important in the long run. On plenty of fish there is a huge shortage of women with a personality. I would say to most men don't waste your time.

This site (POF) may be frustrating, but in all how do you find personality in a persons writing, They are only words. I do browse through the selections, I weed out the couch potatoes becuase I am not one. I am divorced, been since 2004, before you can have a serious relationship you need to figure out who you are, I need to find a friend, (Does anybody know the meaning of a true friend?) Once you figure this out everything will fall into place.

I do recall receiving a message from a man within the town that I live, and his rude comment was "Keep looking". So this person is not looking for a true relationship.

For the people that say there isn't any personality, Perhaps you should drop a note to each person that sends you one, invite the conversation and you may find personality once they are conformatble communicating with another person online. This takes time.

I have been a "member" off and on for 6 years.After the "second" time back, I decided to keep track of "contacts". Markus, the owner . likes to advertise "only 1 out of 3 emails are answered" Well, to date I have sent out 543 email contacts, to a broad cross section of women.487, unread/deleted,33 read/deleted,23 responded.The 23 that did respond, I wouldnt have dated anyway. Now, by no means am I a GQ model at 61, but ,a m definitely not a "dog " either.also, quite a few of the women were using photos anywhere from 10-20 years old, several were over 50 lb more then they stated, even had a few using a younger persons photo. To say the least there seems to be quite a few "Attention whores" on this site, strictly for the attention they receive from emails.Lastly, the moderators on the forums are a joke also.Social misfits at the least, you complain too loudly and they either delete your account or delete your topic on there

ha! from the female perspective, agree it is an *extremely* frustrating site because after much time and effort one discovers 99% of the xy chromosome contingent on this site are not in fact fully available but "it's a long story" with variations on married or living with significant others.

so yah, also frustrating from our perspective, and if you think that looking for a fully available male with a clear current photo and accurate age displayed is overreaching, then so be it, do us all a favor and get off the site. thx.

PoF has some key flaws that I haven't noticed mentioned in the reviews I've read.

(1) PoF doesn't allow users to tell the system "Please don't show me this prospect again." It could be that she decided "no thanks" or he decided "no thanks". But as is, the PoF expects the user to memorize all the pictures where a "no thanks"decision has been made. I've written to PoF a couple of times, asking them to add such a "no thanks" feature. But PoF so far has not been responsive in the least. I'm active on several online dating sites. PoF is the ONLY one that doesn't have this "no thanks" feature.

(2) I can't seem to find a feature whereby I can scan brief summaries of the prospects.

there are decent guys on there who are honest, and ARE single. too bad we've all been stigmatized thanks to all the idiots and morons. It seems even so much as a polite hello has been cliched and over used by the morons before they become rude, so good guys have no chance. that's why i quit

Im in agrement...ive left and come back to pof a couple times and its always the same thing. Ive emailed nearly dozens of women and HAVE GOTTEN NO RESPONSE AT ALL. And now they want me to pay for certain features? As a matter of fact, im gonna go delete my account good for the last time. It s a shame that a guy like me who is actually looking for a relationship has to be lumped in with all the idiots on pof. Im gonna go delete my account right now!!!

I am a little taken back by the post above with nothing good to say about the woman not replying to emails... For a female who just joined this site and has yet to understand how the site works, how to update profiles and so forth. I feel a little too much pressure! I've only joined a little over 24 hours ago and have received up to 28 emails so far and counting. Now as I have said I still have to figure out how to complete some areas of my profile that I've not had a chance to get to just yet but being a newbie on POF how the heck am I supposed to address the 28 email messages that I have received when I haven't even gotten around to sharing a little more about who I am. It's difficult as a female to be greeted with so many emails when at first my intention was to browse the male dating lists and possibly email a few guys here and there... I'm bombarded and as Im currently typing more incoming emails are flooding in. This is like a full time job and I didn't expect so many emails within the first 24 hours of joining. Another thing... I don't know who you have had the misfortune of connecting with but I can assure you not all of us females are snobs, how can you say that and then warn others to avoid POF just because you may have had a bad experience. You obviously have had a bad experience/s but that doesn't mean everyone else will so it would be nice if for those of us girls that are far from the "snob" type you describe are given an equal oppertunity to meet someone nice... Don't hate the players kid, hate the game ;-)

You sound like a very reasonable person. I hope your experience at POF worked out for you. I'm just reading these reviews to get a feeling for POF as I had never heard of it before today.

I can confirm what it sounds like you have found out about some of the males on this site. I'm not a member but I just found out my common law husband who I have lived with for nine years and own a house with etc. has a profile on this site claiming he's single and 4 years younger than he is! And he used a photo I took of him at our house! Nice huh? He travels a lot for his work and I guess call me naive but I just found out about a pretty creepy side to someone I've known for almost a decade.how our life issues are going to be resolved I don't know, but ladies all is I can say is be careful for your own sake. Can't specifically blame POF but after finding out if I ever go looking for a new mate after getting out of this relationship I don't think I'll use online dating at all!

A mate was on this site and she asked 2 of us to join her for a local POF meeting night which she said would be fun. No disrespect to members but we were so shocked by the folk that attended both male and female, we left after an hour. My friend said none of them looked like their photos nor matched their profiles.She apologised to us and we could see she was embarassed.

She left the site and left dating to fate after we talked her
